I'm wondering if anyone has come across needle nose that have aggressive diamond teeth. The only ones I've come across are my tekton (china made) needle nose. I have the also have the Taiwan made tekton needle nose but the teeth are more shallow. I find the the aggressive teeth really help them grip better. Ive used channellock and snapon needle nose which both have diamond teeth but they are shallow and dont grip as well.

None of my Snap-On needle nose pliers have teeth that aggressive but they do grip fine for me. I don't have any conventional Snap-On needle nose pliers though, just specialties. I haven't had a whole lot of different brands of needle nose pliers but I don't remember any of mine having teeth as aggressive as that. Not sure if I would want teeth that aggressive but that's just me.

I have a couple pairs of the Tekton Chinesium pliers. I've never had Snap On or Knipex so I can't compare. I'm OK with the Tekton, other than the COO. Non professional.

I'd stick with the SO 196CF family. SO teeth seem to be better hardened. The first image is an old pair of SO 196CF's that have had many hours of use over many years. Notice how the teeth still look to be in good shape. (no deformation)

The second image is a pair of Doyle/Tekton 8" from Taiwan. Notice how the teeth are already becoming flat at the tip. These pliers are < 1 year old and have only been used a few times.

The only problem with the SO plier is that the teeth can get clogged with **** over time. Just take a file card and clean the jaws from time to time.

Some nice photo examples posted above. Although it is not a needle nose, I think it is worth mentioning the Channellock 516 because of the very aggressive teeth. I bought them specifically for this reason. They are discontinued so if you want them, you should get them now since they are disappearing. The 516 is thinner than the 546, 548, 5410 which have the same very aggressive teeth. If you don't need a fine point, they are great for grabbing.

I recently acquired a pair of the Tekton model on an Ebay close-out deal:

Tekton 34401 11-inch needle nose pliers.jpg

$10 bucks including shipping.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/11-Long-No...ng-Reach-Needle-Nose-Top-Quality/222756288947
(* these are listed as "seconds" but I can't see a damn thing wrong with them. *)

But honestly, I just went and looked at them, and if "agressive jaw" is what you're looking for, you might consider these "Lacing Pliers" made by C.S. Osborne, made for the leather crafting market:

C.S. Osborne 103-5 6.5 in lacing pliers 01.jpgC.S. Osborne 103-5 6.5 in lacing pliers 02.jpgC.S. Osborne 103-5 6.5 in lacing pliers 03.jpg

$5.45 + $2.95 shipping "buy now"

Do those have diamond serrations or parallel serrations?

The Snap on "Talon Grip" needle nose pliers are easily the best I've ever used. Your mileage may vary....

I find that when pliers don't have aggressive teeth they become flat easily making their less aggressive teeth even less "gripy". I also have those the same pliers and they now sit at the bottom of my box and I just use the china made tektons

The problem i would have with those lacing pliers is they will only grip in forward and backwards direction but will not grip as well in left and right directions.

^ Yes, the "Lacing pliers" have serrations only in one direction - they're cut horizonally on the inside surface of the jaws.
I am assuming they're designed for pulling a leather lace through a piece of work.
I ran across them searching for "pliers" by price, and they were cheap so I ordered a couple pairs of them.
Those Tekton "seconds" I listed above, for the price, are probably worth a shot.

I've bought a lot of pliers over the last few years, and to be honest, I think the best needle-nose models I've found were an old pair of Klein-made VACO that I found on Ebay, but I don't believe the serrations on the jaws are much more "agressive" than that Tekton unit I mentioned above.

Honestly, I've read through a lot of "pliers" threads here in the last four years, and i'm not convinced that there's a "best" or a "perfect". :headscrat

YMMV

Those seconds are pretty aggressive and, at ten bucks, cheap enough to be disposable. I really like them. But I can also understand someone depending on them to want reliability and durability.

I keep watching the seller for more models/options.

If one of you guys wants a 516, reply here and I'll message the link to you. It was $17 including shipping. The small store doesn't keep a live inventory and probably only has 1 or 2 remaining. If 75 people order (like they did when I posted the carbide flush cutters) then there will probably be 73-74 that don't get anything. You might call them first to make sure they still have stock. I sent them an email and never got a response. But I put in an order anyway and got them. Haven't tried calling them. The packaging was yellow and brittle with age but the pliers were perfect.

Sent you the link. Good luck.

Here are mine next to a Klein needle nose. The thickness is close. But they are much wider than a needle nose. The teeth are excellent. Sort of a poor man's talon grip --haha!

You can't find any halfway decent pair of needle-nose pliers for that kind of money, China or otherwise.

RE: that pair of 516 Channellocks cited on the previous page:

If you are willing to consider a standard slip-joint model, the Proto 202 has really narrow nose and some fairly agressive jaws.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Stanley-Proto-202-Thin-Nose-6-Pliers-USA-Made-S-8/123800289156

$13.95 incl. shipping "buy now"

I just went out and dug around and I cannot find my pair right now so I cannot give you dimensions on the jaw width. From memory I'm guessing maybe a hair under a quarter of an inch.

I appreciate the suggestion but my only interest was the aggressive diamond shaped teeth on the 516 and the pliers in your link have parallel teeth.

I'm not really fan of most slip-joints... I disliked them until I tried these. Unfortunately Channellock discontinued them but I was lucky to find them at a good price. I recently got the 516, 546, 548, and 5410 which all have the aggressive diamond shaped teeth.

I thought the same thing until i used some snap on pliers (work provides em). I basically thought pliers were pliers ive not yet got to try knipex, but i can confirm the snappys are better than any foreign pliars ive gotten to try.

I doubt there are any more left but you could call them and ask. I bought them from here --> https://www.ironworkerstool.com/product-p/channel-lock-516.htm

The brick and mortar store is AA tools. There's a photo on Google that shows the inside of the store and I can see 2 packages hanging on the wall. I circled them in red on the photo. I got one and 16again ordered one a couple of days ago. Mine was old stock with the stamped logo instead of laser etch. The package was yellow and brittle with age. Don't know if they have any more.

I bought a couple models and they deleted some of the pages after my order (guess I got the last ones) so it might be a good sign that they haven't deleted the 516 yet. It's worth calling to ask.

Just noticed that they raised the price of the 516 from $16.99 to $18.99. Maybe they still have some left.

I love my vamplier pliers best thing in the world for removing non-recessed screws. Though I would still like to find a better option for recessed screws. I have the extractor sets that you drill and then put your drill in reverse and use the extractor but theres got to be a better way.

well, boy1 started a new job. needed an aggressive pair of pliers to grab things.
that gave me the chance to go shopping.
bought channey 516, osbourne 103, vamplier vt-100-7ln, utica 1300-6, channey 360, klein j203-8n. the most aggressively cut were the vampliers. 1st one to the collection, i'm impressed. they're very nice, i will buy the rest of the line.
surprisingly, he chose the kleins, which have diagonally cut grooves, which are very mild.
