I’m looking at needle scalers. Never used one. Are the needles proprietary to make? If I bought an IR, could I go into HF and buy needles for it? Thanks

What are these “needle scalers “ used for? I see them with other pneumatic tools and often wondered what they did? Thanks

De-rusting and paint removal, also needle-peening metal to remove stresses (and to give it a certain finish).

I guess you could order replacements from IR (if it's an IR gun) but we never had to deal with it with ours, as even with daily use with high volume high pressure air what wore out was the seals and valves.

I use them for rust and scale removal, but more regularly for welding and paint prep in corners and other tight areas where the wire brush on the grinder won't fit. An indispensable tool in my mind.
