My next door neighbors husband just passed away and she has two old vices she want to get rid of but we don't have a clue what they are or worth. I am assuming these are wood vices as the owner was a patter maker at a local foundry for many years. Here is the pictures I got today. Thanks for any info on these if anyone know. Tom

Not just wood vises, but patternmaker's vises. Put them on eBay with good photos and you'll have bidders fighting over them.

Sold one years ago, I think for around $500. Definitely worth taking nice pictures and trying to present to the widest audience possible.

-Cheers

Gizmosity, that is a great site. I will pass it on to my neighbor. She is moving and has a place to store these vices for a while. I am just helping her out because she has always been a great neighbor and friend. THANKS again Tom

vettex2, I got more tools now than I would ever possibly use plus I am getting up in age and when I pass my son would probably give things like this away.

She has a 1989 Corvette with 1800 original miles on it. Problem is it has been sitting in a garage since 1990 and has not been started since 2009 :(

They kept it in a heated and cooled garage completely closed up. I put a battery in it today for her but I told her it would probably not start.

I was right. New battery got it turning over but no start and I cannot hear the fuel pump cycle.

I did manage to drain the old fuel out of it and yes it is old and had ethanol gas in it.

Her husband go sick several years ago and just never got to cranking it up every so often. I may help her and remove the fuel pump tomorrow so maybe we can get it moved to her new home. I will know more when I get the pump out. I know what ethanol does to rubber fuel parts. Probably bad injectors also. More later on this task :)

Ditto on what has been said. These are highly desirable pattern maker's vises. And they look to be in good condition and complete. Woodworkers love these vises.
