What REALLY pisses me off about this ad is this line: "I know things are quite difficult out there, you guys need tools, but are just trying to deal with what you've got so you dont have to spend any extra money that your afraid to let go of."

Yeah, someone beat me to the "RE ad". Was that you? This seller is a dirt-bag, for sure. His reply to me was:

"Let me ask you, have you seen them on the trucks, and how pricy they are? Dont get me wrong, I wouldnt be suprised if they were chinese, but theyre good wrenches, WITH a waranty, and ive never had ANY problems with them."

I replied back that he was commiting fraud and needed to fix his ad.

Neiko is bottom of the barrel junk, and they apparently have no real distributor network since its a common swap meet and CL "store" brand. One of my favorites to flag.

Explain to him you don't begrudge him a living, just a dishonest one... He doesn't have to say they're Chinese, he just can't (or at least shouldn't) say they're made in the USA when they aren't.

There are 3 major spammers on craigslist in Toronto. One of them I call "Tony the Tool" & he seems to make a living re-selling defective HF shite sometimes for double the price on the HF site. Seriously. He's got 5-6 pages of the **** listed at any given time.

Kijiji here is even worse...

Well if he tries to make a living scamming people then F him. Hes the typical bum who assumes all mechanics are dishonest and try to scam people. I'd bet the majority of the public doesn't have a clue to all the "free" labor they get from mechanics when things go wrong during a repair, or when a job takes WAY longer than they quoted.

So, screw him

I have been trying to track-down the actual place of manufacture of NEIKO TOOLS USA, and as I suspected, many of them are made by Zhejiang Kangle Group in China.

They are IMPORTED by a company in Gardena Cal, NEIKO TOOLS USA.

I registered a complaint with EBAY regarding sellers' use of USA as a hook in the title, but they were unresponsive.

So I opened my own auction entitled 'NEIKO USA - made in CHINA'. The body of the auction says this:

NEIKO "USA" tools are not made in the USA.

They are manufactured in China, by Zhejiang Kangle Group.

The fact that "USA" is used in the title (and LOGO) is a consequence of the fact that they are IMPORTED by a US company.

I don't object to folks selling these tools on eBAY. I object to sellers misleading potential buyers into thinking they are USA-made.

Sometimes, you DON'T WANT/NEED a tool that will last forever. Sometimes you need a tool that will last for only one job.

AGAIN, these are NOT made in the USA. And if they break, WARRANTY satisfaction is gonna be a difficult task.

This 'auction' has been created because EBAY does not feel that disallowing the use of "USA" in the title for these tools (or requiring the seller to disclose the place-of-manufacture) is an appropriate.

For 15cents per auction, I am going to keep doing this until ebay kicks me off...

I too do not begrudge a living just do it honestly. USA = a premium most of the time so you are buying for long term vs fulfilling a temporary need cheaply.

We all have our **** purchase from a scammer and do not want to see it happen again.

So go to it. We will supply the **** tools to throw at the culprits.

Does anyone remember, many years ago "Made in USA, Japan ?"

They made a town/city in Japan named USA, so they could put made in USA.

It was a violation of international law and they had to stop it.

What I've noticed is most companies that name themselves BrandX USA they are selling something that is either not made in the US or it is a foreign company with a marketing/importing division (Toyota USA).

Either way I steer clear.

NK USA and NEIKO USA are the same. Interestingly, you can't find an acutal manufacturer name NK or NEIKO. I am guessing that the Chinese company brands them at request, not unlike Danaher branding the same item as Kobalt or Craftsman or Armstrong. There IS a NEIKO USA that IMPORTS these. The issue I take is the use of "USA" in the name, implying made-in-US. And, unlike Danaher-made tools, who do you go to for warranty (or to sue when the piece explodes in your face)?
