These were posted on another thread a while back. Looks like a beautiful piece of furniture.

I think perhaps more for the tool worshipper than the tool polisher - set up your own altar of tools and pay your respects...!

In fairness, I think these were introduced as a sort of “collectors cabinet” for the folks who have multiples of their top end “Urushi” handled ratchets. I don’t know how many of those people there are, but fair play to KTC in catering for them.

In the meantime, British manufacturers continue to produce the same ratchet handle they have been producing for the last three decades (and it wasn’t the best then). When questioned as to why they are now a “bit player” in the tool world they say it’s because customers want cheap stuff made in China. Talk about “No F’ing Idea”!

That is a gorgeous piece. Although it strikes me as a beautiful display piece rather than a working tool box

Absolutely!!! I mean look how many spots there are for ratchets compared to other tools. I think it's the ultimate Nepros display case. I personally can't imagine anyone actually using one of the bamboo handled ratchets. Has anyone figured out list price for it?

Like said above, probably for a collector of those tools. But I can see something like that not upsetting the wife if it were placed centrally in the house. You know for the times you don't feel like putting shoes on and walking all the way to the garage when you find a loose screw somewhere.

I could see it as a display case for a collector. It could also fit very well as the assembly tool set for a fine furniture maker.

I would also see it as a retirement gift for a well respected mechanic or engineer.

Where do you get the fancy handles for the ratchets? Are they custom made or can you order them from Nepros?

Considering the ratchets run between $2K-4.3K each, this set is probably north of $25K. That's one nice end table.

Beautiful and it's more functional to collect tools than to collect used stamps.

- but I don't do either

Nepros makes the ratchets with special edition handles in limited releases. Wood, colored, and leather were done. Priced about $50-100 over the tool price.

They also do Urushi (traditional hand laid layered laquer finish) as extremely high end display/collector/gift pieces. Price depends on the pattern, but I believe it is $2000-5000. The patterns are done by adding inlays, color pigments, or gold/silver in the layers.

I know there were anodized blue sets as well.

The toolbox set looks to be about $3500, but does not include the Urushi handle versions. It does have a set of their hand tools and a 6.3 (1/4") ratchet set.

Thanks Red, those handles are stunning. I have a friend that makes custom pens. These handles remind me of his work.

I just came across this, and wow... I certainly don't need, but dang it do I want this. Also been assembling a huge JP list of stuff i'll be buying this year, so this just hits where it hurts

Why doesn't DRPD sell nepros toolboxes?
Very expensive to import to the US due to size/weight as we are air freighting everything currently.

Once ocean freight has stabilized we will consider it again. We do have eventual plans for a showroom and it would be a missed opportunity for us to not have something like this displayed!

Thank you for the explanation, sir.
