Nepros tools?

I was watching the "snap on junkie" On youtube yesterday, and he showed some Nepros sockets and ratchets he bought. The stuff looks pretty nice.

I have a nepros ratchet,kyo tool,koken,king tony as well.imho all about the same except nepros,and kyo tool are maybe superior and finish wise wow!!! Like a mirror

I don't think anyone could make a general statement to classify any name brand into good, better, best, it depends on the particular tool. You could defiantly classify them by their attention to finishes or prices.
the better question is> are there as many folks that beat up on Nepos ratchets or wrenches on a daily basis on par with their Snap-On versions? Perhaps Nepros are too pretty and valuable to expose to risk of exercising their warrantee support in order to test any subjective claims.

I've been using my Nepros tools alongside my Snapon, Hazet, Stahlwille, Koken, Gedore, KTC, Koken, etc., etc. for several years. I am making a general statement based on my personal experience using these tools. Nepros tools are very nice looking, but the beauty is more than skin deep. Nepros tools for the most part are also less expensive than their Snapon counterparts, so are a better value. You could also ask if there are as many people that beat up on Snapon ratchets or wrenches on a daily basis on par with their Harbor Freight versions? That doesn't say anything about the relative quality of Snapon tools vs Harbor Freight tools. Snapon, Hazet, and Stahlwille all make excellent tools, but I personally prefer Nepros over any of the other brands I have used. Is your opinion based on actual use of any tools?

The only issue really with nepros is they are very japanese. which means airmail and pay your way for warranty repair.

They are also so rare there is no realistic option to buy used, so the pricing is sort of sanp-on List > nepros list > Snap on (like new) used. So... net net pricing is a wash. Then get you into ergonomics and what not which is a bit personal.

The only technical fault i've read about was reports of high backdrag on the ratchets vs koken (edit: zeal searies). Maybe someone who has used them head to head has more info vs T72 nd F80? The 1/4 drive stuff is in some ways the weakest ergonomically from snap-on [edit: and so the most interesting place to look for other options like nepros].

In 3/8 and 1/2 the F80 series is so good theres not alot of reason to look for exotica.

I took some very expensive Wurth ratchets in about 2006 and have been beating the hell out of them for 11 years.
And none have ever failed.

Its not about looking at them. Its about holding the money I made using them. Looks are shot but nobody here cares, i bet there are battered Nepros tools out there somewhere too.

Your phrasing leads me to conclude that you have not even used a Nepros ratchet. You've "read" about reports that the Nepros has more backdrag than Koken. Koken does not make any high tooth count ratchets and backdrag is significantly more on the higher tooth count ratchets. Yes, Koken are very smooth and have the least amount of backdrag of any ratchet I own (the Zeal versions anyway). However, I never seem to reach for a Koken ratchet due to the wide swing arc between tooth engagement. I always use a Snapon or Nepros ratchet. The Nepros 90 tooth ratchets are smoother and have less backdrag than the comparable Snapon versions IMO. However I digress. My point is that I'm tired of reading what someone has "heard" or "read" about some tool. Go out and buy the tool and actually use it yourself to form an opinion before telling someone else what is best or what they should buy.

I appreciate your thougts on Nepros, but this is a bizarre rant...

Can anyone tell me where the less expensive Nepros tools are? Everything I'm seeing is $300 for a ratchet I could get from Snap-On for $80. $400 Screwdriver sets. $600 socket sets. I'm genuinely asking because the tools do seem nice.

Nepros has a handle profile like Cornwell with 90 tooth and a QR that is completely flush with the head (1/4 drive are stuck out a little). Its a special mix that really doesn't have an equal. The machining is also better than Snap-On (Dual 80s are block-ish).

I like mine and they aren't tool box queens, I make a point to use them. Functionally they're extremely similar to dual 80s. Similar back drag, similar directional lever stiffness. They are very smooth. Koken Zeal has the best back drag of any ratchet I've used but that's an entirely different ratchet and there are only about 4 of them across the 3 drive sizes so I see little point in even comparing them. Im positive the Zeal is a weaker mechanism as well.

Warranty isn't as liberal of course but unless you plan on putting the pipe to it you shouldn't have a problem.

Nepros directly, Rakuten, or Franks. Franks Nepros prices are a little on the high side but he's got the cheapest shipping so it kind of equals out especially during his weekly sales. You also may have to wait for him to build a stock order which could be a week or a month.

I don't mean to be a ****, but if anyone can make a general statement it's ricleh, he has an amazing assortment of everything. 2-5ish years ago Nepros were much cheaper most people got theirs then.

I'd rather Nepros/KTC tools over Snap on anyday. They are the best quality tools in the globe IMO, the ratchets and box end wrenches I have are beautifully to use. I really like Jap tools having SEK ratchets and sockets, I'd also take German Belzer over SO hand tools for the price I have to pay. USA love SO and are passionately patriotic about the company....I get that and respect it too.
