Kind of a neat box but not sure what the purpose is. Doesn't seem like it saves space. Was it just a concept that never caught on? Has anyone seen one, know who made them or know what they are worth?

Looks like the type of cabinet that is mounted inside service vans. Appliance repair, mobile mechanic, etc.

Thanks guys. This one looks like a vintage version of the same style design. I am on my to look at it now. For the price I figure it is worth picking up. I have lots of tools that do not get used very often. Instead of leaving them to hang on peg boards and collect dust this would allow to hide them while still having a cool looking cabinet to display.
I doubt I would use that for tools. I think it would awesome for boxes of nails, screws, electrical or plumbing supplies.
I pulled the trigger at $140. It is a really well built cabinet. The top is now my battery charging station (cordless battery chargers, battery tender for motorcycle batteries) and the ultrasonic cleaner. Each drawer height can be adjusted up and down. Each has a tab that locks the drawer in place when closed. It is overbuilt I think, kind of like a safe. Stainless top that shows lots of wear so must have been used as a work bench at some point. Locking doors is a bonus. Each drawer measures 15in wide and between 24in at the long point to 19in at the shortest point. Has divider slots that I will use to separate some smaller things that might roll around. Since I don't plan on storing anything tall in the drawer I think I will move them closer together which will give me a good 12-16in high storage area at the bottom. Now I just need to line the drawers and get them loaded up. They seem like they will hold a lot of weight. I leaned my body weight on one and it didn't budge. So far no regrets buying it. I have bought so many cool cabinets and boxes lately that I am running out of space to put them but at least all my tools have a home now.

I was watching an even older version of that on UK ebay, went for way out of my price range. I would say it was from the 1940's so they've been around a while.

I saw bunches of these cabs in a really heavy duty machine shop which was set up to work on ships and such. Shop contents were being auctioned. The swing drawers in the cabs in that shop were being used to hold tooling for various machine tools. Very, very heavy duty!
It looks like a solid built cabinet, nice find.
The batteries and chargers are sitting on top on the cabinet, not inside. I own a 1970 MGB so I already have enough rust in my garage.
Took two people and a moving dolly to get it in the garage. It is heavy enough that when I pulled out a drawer and put all my weight on it (195lbs) the cabinet did not tip over.
Unfortunately no dividers but I should be able to find some to adapt or just make some out of plastic or thin metal and cut slots so they interlock where they intersect (intertwine, interview, interact or any other "inter" word).
