As a long time lurker I learned a lot from this site while I was planning my new garage. We broke ground about a week and a half ago and finally got the footings/foundation poured this past week. They should be back filling and framing this week.

The mess.

In order for me to maximize my ceiling height, they had to excavate my existing driveway/yard down. Now I am stuck with this hill. An unexpected landscaping expense I am not looking forward to. Any suggestions?

Quick update....They got the foundation backfilled, item #4 laid out, and the three walls framed. Just waiting on the trusses which seem to be taking forever. Sorry for the crappy pics, my wife sent me these since I am away for work.

The job is taking a bit longer than I anticipated but it's 90% done. Sheetrock was installed last week and they taped/mudded the walls yesterday. The wonderful NY humidity is not helping so it is taking some time to cure. Gutters to be installed and electric is going to be hooked up to the sub panel this week. Pics to follow.

Looking good. I am enroute to my brothers house in Ft Salonga, LI from Phx.
He can't find a good electrician for his house. It's little brother to the rescue!
Regarding the hill, you can build a retaining wall with those decorative stackable blocks. I think that would look great.
Keep the pics coming!

Looks to be a good size build. How deep is the footer below grade? How high is the ceiling going to be?

I hired a landscaper who will start in August. He is going to build a retaining wall, steps, walkway, and do some planting.

Plain Garage-the footers are 4 ft I believe and the ceiling is 9'6".
