Just bought a house. Possession date is Sept 28. Garage build happens right away. Its not a car parking garage its more of a tinker shop and a motorcycle storage box. I have 5 bikes total. And then I do my own maintenance on my vehicles as needed. It will have 1 offset 16' wide door. I am thinking a 10' overhead radiant heater on the back(opposite bay door) wall at a 45 degree angle. I am thinking 9 T5 lights spread out evenly on the roof. And I'm thinking 4 120v standard plug outlets on each wall(brought out to the bench edge where there are benches) with a compressor plug/ a welder plug/ and a couple 30 amp 120v plugs spread around as needed. Benches on the offset wall I will have 1 plug on the roof for the door opener and another in the back(opposite bay door) of the shop in the corner for a stereo and maybe a tv. I am painting the walls 2 tone, bottom 4' in dark grey with the benches and top and roof in white all over OSB. How does my plan sound? Any additions. I'm probably missing something but throw it at me anyway. I will sketch something out a little later and post it up.

Sounds very similar to the garage I've been planning to build for years. I don't have very many suggestions to add, but for what it's worth:

Ceiling height of 12' or so if you think you'll ever add a lift one day;

Thick enough/strong enough concrete floor (see above);

Windows positioned for some cross-ventilation in the summer;

Piping for air lines;

Ethernet cabling;

Exterior electrical outlet(s);

Motorcycle lift

Also update your profile so we at least know what state you are in.

Thanks for the feedback. I am not able to go 12' ceilings due to a height restriction in my municipality. I will be trying to go around that as my garage access is through my back alley and there is a hotel backing that alley also. I forgot outdoor plug. That was in the plan, and yes air lines also. Motorcycle lift is in the plans too.

One other thought I had regards the 16 foot wide door. If you're planning to use the shop primarily for tinkering/hobbies and motorcycles you might want to consider a narrower door to get more usable wall space.

I thought of it. But with 28' + about 20' of bench space I think I have enough wall space for the benches. Ladders and thin stuff on the wall to the close left of the 16' door. And my benches will be 41" off the ground which leaves me 37" under bench space. That's where my compressor and welder and table saw get stored. Bicycles go in the garden shed along with the lawn and yard care stuff. My last 28x32 had sufficient space with almost exactly the same bench space and a little more wall space, except I kept all the extras in the shop. I will be doing an overhead shelf directly above the work benches that will hang down 2' from the ceiling and hold my overhead lighting for the benches on the underside. Up there I will have Rubbermaid bins labeled and stored with all the stuff I don't use or need down hogging floor space or under bench space. My drill press and bench grinder will be on the front wall next to the 16' door. I like the 16' door because when you need it, you cant replace it.
