Looking good!
How big is the culvert?
I would prefer a minimum 18-24" for a wooded area so it is less prone to plugging up. Keep an eye on the upstream side as time goes by.

Its 12". I did have a problem last year when my wife decided that was a good place to dump leaves

How are things progressing inside? Thank you for sharing costs, that is interesting seeing what you can get for the $$.

I really like the retaining wall on the road, it looks classy.

Been slow for a bit. but there really is limited expense left for electrical components only. The interior walls are just a matter of putting up but I cant work on it for another three weeks due to commitments.

Got the cars in.

Well today is the first day that I really got to work in my garage on cars. I did four oil changes. First time not using a lift in about 8 years. Cant wait to get that installed. Without benches and the proper tools I made a mess on my new Epoxy floor.

First problem.

6 qt of oil in my F150 sloshed when I pulled the pan out from under.

Second problem:

Not having changed oil on my V12 Benz on the floor before, I did no realize that my oil drain pan does not hold 11 qt of oil. So that overflowed.

Nice thing about Epoxy is that stuff just wipes right off clean.

Cant wait to get the lift installed. At least the garage is now broken in.

Got the interior almost done. All the panels are up but I ran out of screws. They have been on order for over a week now. I power washed everything and started to move the stuff in from my storage unit.

I'm trying to keep the stuff from storage away from the walls so I can work on electricity but it looks to be a loosing battle.

So electric outlets, garage door openers and air lines are all that's left.

I need pallet racks real bad.

Interior panels are now complete. Wiring to duplex receptacles is now going on.

Installed 18 Junction boxes and 18 receptacle boxes, bent 18 3/4" offset EMT drops. Tomorrow starts the perimeter conduit.

I also got the gravel for my driveway delivered last week.

Unfortunately I had to empty my storage unit so everything is in boxes on the floor.

Nice job on the building. Mind if I ask the name brand? I've had no luck trying to find a steel building kit in MO. The closest I can get is a 900 mile round trip.

Looks great! My ONLY suggestion would have been to place the air compressor shed on the machine shop side of the building or behind the building. I've found the only time compressors kick on is when I'm on the phone near it or having a conversation, just a minor inconvience to walk over to it and shut it off.

RayBob58- have you looked into Perka buildings in St. Joseph,Mo?
I am in Kansas and am planning to use them, they are popular around here.

Sorry to temporarily hi-jack this thread. Great place by the way. I'm planning a 36x48 myself.

Building came from ICON Buildings in Texas. But they are just a broker and the actual building is fabricated and delivered from a closer location. Mine came from Alabama.

Its on the machine shop side outside in front. No problem on the phone anywhere in the shop. I would have loved to put it in the back but my thought was it would be too noisy for the neighbors. After running it seams to work out perfect for all.

Looks great! Are you going to heat or cool your space? I am hoping to build a new house and shop in the triad in the next few years.

I got the whole kit from ICON buildings in Texas for ~ $25K. The paneling is PBR on the outside and came with the kit.

But check these guys out for metal by the piece.
http://imetal.net/cart/metal-roof-panels/exposed-fastener-panels/metal-sales-pbr.html

Or just look up PBR siding and you will find it.

If you want to build with wood any lumber yard can supply all of the components. Take your plans in and the estimator will give you a number. Stick building has some advantages, particularly if you plan on finishing out the inside.

Great garage!! Why did you go with a steel bld instead of typical wood framed .. Seems to be much more costly.. Almost double in my back of the napkin math.. Did you price out regular framing?

When I looked into it they looked about the same price. Its really hard to tell because the quality and grades of both steel construction and wood really put it all over the map. But in the end the difference in building material is insignificant to the total cost of the projects.

The last finishing touches.

A couple of things I needed to get things somewhat workable.

1) I needed a place to stand my gas cylinders for my welder and a better dolly for it. So I got this welding stand/tool box from Northern Tool. Its a lot of toolbox for the money but still your standard Chinese fit and finish with doors and draws that require a key at all times to use.

2) While I was picking it up at Northern Tool I got 1 more chord real. The new man cave requires two of these. They used to be blue but now they are orange with a GFIC protector. I had to cut off the GFIC because it is already on a GFIC circuit and resetting the GFIC where its mounted would require a ladder.

3) I worked 19 hours of overtime last week so the wife gave me the go ahead for a Santa Fe Dehumidifier. I may actually need 2 of these in this building but 1 should at least protect my tools. I've been monitoring temp and humidity with two data loggers that can log and store data for a year. I will see how 1 unit works out over the next year.

I completed all pegboard installations today. The machine shop wall is 4 sheets of 4 x 8 peg board. The area over the work benches in the auto shop are 4 sheets of 2 x 8' bed board. That was completed a few weeks ago.

In the last two weeks I completed the installation of 2 2' x 4' PVC peg board for the grease and oil tools as well as the broom and mop tools. The PVC is expensive but I wanted something easy to wipe down in that area.

And just today I completed the steel diamond plate board over the welding table. That stuff is really expensive that's why there is only 1 of those.

Of course I ran out of hooks so all that stuff on the welding table still needs to be hung.

It is now the first time all my tools are out of storage and put in a place where they belong.

Now I just need 1 more shelf over the welding table to hold welding rods.

I also need to replace my 12" x 18" blue bins with 24" bins to work better with my 2' pallet racks.

I have also found that the large 72" x 39" tool box does not work well in this shop. I would prefer stationary cabinets with tools located where they are used and a smaller more portable toolbox with general use hand tools.

I really like your build. I was attracted to the interior wall finishing (over on the lighting thread by Platonic Solid).

Tough deal on the concrete. It sure seems like concrete is the one thing where you really need to cover your **** and hire the right guys.

Getting it all on wheels.

With space running out it is time to get all equipment up on wheels. I put casters on my band saw and my MIG welder and Plasma cutter.

For the band saw I has to space the casters out to accommodate the loss of wheel base due to swivel radius. I used 3" by 3" x 1/4" angle and spaced the wheels out to a point where the wheels touched the ground at a point just further out than the original wheels with the wheels swiveled inward.

For the front end I was able to just put the angle iron under the saw box and bolt the vertical edge to the front side. I had to trim about 1/4" off of the saw box to accommodate the radius of the angle iron.

The back end had another problem. This model saw Klutch 7" x 12" when lifted to the vertical position has a tendency to want to flip backward if your not careful lifting it to the vertical position. You will see the customer reviews commenting on this quite a bit at the Northern Tool web sight. So with that in mind I had to further space the casters backward as well as out. This was done by facing the flange backward instead of under the saw box. This required tabs to be welded on the opposite side of the angle that were bolted to the sides of the box because the angle was no longer supported and to just bolt it to the back edge would just bend the edge.

I used what are called Total Lock Casters which lock both the wheel and the swivel for excellent stability.

http://shop.servicecaster.com/4inch...-wheel-bolt-hole-p/scc-bhttl20s414-ppub-m.htm

For the welder and plasma cutter. I used 12" x 18" furniture dollys from Northern Tool. I found I needed to build a rack to hold the equipment firmly in place on the dollys. I made the rack out of 1" angle iron and extended the rack out the back a little so that the cords and hoses would not get crushed if I pushed the unit up against the wall.

The shop looks great. Cars look great. But... How is the concrete pad holding up?
P.S. Your mini fridge looks great. Nice variety.
