Hello all

I am new here but am getting a lot of great info. I have a quick question:

How thick of a concrete floor should I get? I know that if I ever wanted a lift I should get 6" but I really do not ever need to work on cars (just mini-dune buggies). So if I would never need a lift is there any other reason to get 6" floor. My concrete guys are going to put wire mesh and fiber in.

Pics to follow (trying to resize).

Thanks for any advice.:headscrat

So this build will have 12 foot walls with a 10'x16' front door and a back door of 10'x12'. The roof will have a 8/12 pitch.

walls getting poured and forms removed.

Sorry about the bad pics. they are from my security cameras.

I am putting in a 6" slab in because of the northern climate with the freeze and thaw.

If money isn't an issue, go with the six inches. It will hold up better in the long run. That being said, I'm pouring a floor in my shed tomorrow, and I'm going with four inches. Most of the time four inches is fine, and I cant justify the extra cost of 50% more concrete.

Looks like you are going to have a great shop.

well I decided to go with 4", rebar and mesh. The mix is going to be a 4500 PSI, so if I do want to put a 4 post in later that should be good enough.

Thanks for the help.

Welcome. Nice looking garage. I am building one that is a similar size and layout. Will be looking forward to your updates.

What are your plans for the interior layout? What are you using the loft for?

Well the loft was going to be a Office/Man cave, but my wife may have different plans.

The barn has the length it does so a full batting cage can fit in it. Actually I plan on putting 2 of then in there.

Here is another pic with the house as a reference and the gutter drainage tile.

And it stopped raining  so we could get the drive in the front and back and start putting walls up (next post)

OK can somebody tell me why the pics are just links? I tried to used the attachment button so they could be inside the text and not just at the bottom.

Now they show up as pics after a couple of login/outs

After a couple of days we have walls:beer:

with this you can get a idea on the wall height, that is a 10ft ladder next to the corner.

Now it is a waiting game. The company building the trusses was suppose to deliver them last week. I finally got a hold of them and they said they are not even built yet.:wtf:

So, the trusses are not here and then the builder has to go out of town for a half a week. :rocketwho

I think I will need to move my security camera so I can get the roof going up.
