New 32 X 48 barn going up in Central IL

Started building in August of 2010, and it is going up quickly. Done all the work (except the concrete) myself with some help of some good friends. Purpose of this building is to store my current toys and the future ones.

I live out in the country and I would love to make this look like one of the older barns in the area. Any ideas on some great siding for this?

I really like the look of board and batten. We are deciding between this and shiplap (a bit cheaper) for our barn/garage. Both seem to be used on the old barns around here. I can't seem to find any info on which is more durable/weather-resistant. Not sure what is common in your area though, so YMMV. Maybe drive around and take some pictures of barns you like in your area. Google Images is also useful for this. Let us know what you decide.
