Hi, Having a new 32w x 26d garage built by blue sky builders. I am located in the southwest burbs of chicago. I have an existing attached garage that is coming down tomorrow. I am excited about this but still have to pick siding and roofing colors to match with the house. I am also still undecided on the type of window for the side of the garage that faces the yard. Anyway, here are some pics of the drawing and of the house before this project starts. I will be updating with pics throughout the build. I am going to be doing all the finish work of the garage, it will be insulated and heated also. Enjoy!

Well, The garage is costing aprox $20k, the replacement cost of the driveway going to the back is going to be aprox $8k. Thats not including any electric or interior finishing either.

Congrats on the project! I love the siting of your new garage.

After seeing your garage drawing, I was more than surprised to see your gable-roof house and all the neighbors' gable-roof houses. Has the contractor ordered the trusses yet? ;)

I don't think he's using trusses, it is a hip roof and he will be using crossties going across to support drywall.

Just wondering, do you require all three spots of parking or the full depth of the 26? My bud has a 24dx32w, two 9x8 doors I believe to one side then uses the side 10' for work space. I do know he wishes he could of gone 2 feet deeper like you got there, just for the ability to work on his extended cab long box superduty.

I have time and time again said 26 or 28d x 32 wide would be perfect.

Less grass is right! :D

I do have 3 cars that will go in the garage, 2 most of the time. I went with the biggest garage that the village would let me build. I wanted the extra depth for a workbench in the back and along the left side. I will still have plenty of room in front & back of the car. I went with 32 wide to have the room to park 4 cars if I ever need to. With that with it shouldn't be a problem. I agree that this size or even deeper is perfect.

Yes they got a lot done in 6 hours! I don't know why they chose one LVL, maybe its stronger that way and quicker to build. I'll post more pics tomorrow!

Finally Completed! They finished the soffit & facia today. The only thing left is to get the driveway poured and do the electric in the garage.

Sorry about that guys, been so busy! Next spring it will get drywalled and a new epoxy floor. I will post more pics when that gets done. There is also drop down stairs installed in the middle. I'll take a pic of that later. I'm loving the space! Here you go:

Thanks,

I think I am going to paint everything either white or a light beige. I want to paint the bottom 3' of the walls a gray and then paint a5" red stripe between them that matches the barn red siding. Any other ideas are welcome? I am going to build cabinets after this gets done then get the floor epoxied professionally after that. I will take pictures as this progresses.

Was this a kit from Building 84? I just got my estimate from them on a 42x32 2x6 build with a second floor. Materials are 14K
