I went to harbor freight to get my 6 pc. hex key sockets for $4 on the sidewalk sale plus 20% coupon for $3.20. And i stumbled upon the new US General 56" 11 drawer toolbox. The finish was SMOOTH! It was red. The casters were amazingly sturdy and the box itself was built like a brick. It had a nice Mat on top that was glued to it and it came with pre-cut mesh drawer liners. It was $800. I drew up on paint the drawer configuration for you guys. Wish i would have brought my phone so i could've taken a picture. I believe the drawers were 24" deep.

I do not know if it comes in black or not. There were no side boxes on display or top chests and the place was the busiest i've ever seen it so no one to ask. They had 6 registers going. And nobody but me looking at the box.

Your mission: If you so choose to do so, is to go back there this week-end, and take live photo's from it standing there.

All the drawers open, so we can see the depth and the sliders.

Also so we can see the casters etc. Should you or any of your IMF force be captured during this mission, the Agency will disenvow any knowledge of this mission!

This is your mission, go go Joe!

Oh yeah, i forgot one bad thing about the box (well i think it's a bad thing) it has those finger lock things on the side of each drawer (like the 5 drawer service cart) which i'm sure could be ripped out but if i went to go into my box everyday i wouldn't want those. the slides were smoother than my HF box though.

I was actually planning on going to HF tonight for some air fitting swivels. If its there I will snap a pic. There service carts also stole the snap on lock n roll on the drawers.

Finger lock? Like the push pin style? Pictures my man . . . Pictures, or you're lying . . .

I guess you could say push pin. It's on the right side of each drawer. I will see if we're going anywhere this weekend to ask if i can get some pics. I'm not lying. My Harbor Freight is on the other side of town but it's like a 10 minute drive.

Anyone had experience with the 5 drawer service cart? With coupons it's $120...I know it's not snap on, but.

Thanks, I don't mean to hijack.

There's been all sorts of response on this website about it, and it is one helluva cart for $120. If you need it, i'd say go pick it up.

it's the 2nd one. harborfreightusa.com isn't the official harbor freight website harborfreight.com is.

Don't know what you're considering "official", but the harborfreightusa.com is the site for the retail stores. The harborfreight.com is the site for ordering via the internet.

I've seen it. The color is the standard toolbox-as-God-intended red. The latches are on the right side of each drawer pull. Underneath the pull is a spring-loaded slide latch with a bolt similar to a regular house door lockset. There is a matching hole in the vertical metal frame. I don't like the latch design. Just as a door latch rubs on the door frame, the bolt rubs on the box's paint (that's why doors have brass plates around the hole, rihgt?). The design does allow room to jam the latch open by putting a piece of cardboard, rubber tubing, etc. underneath the drawer pull so the latch would always be unlocked.

The box looks pretty well made. Clearly not a pro box but for a weekend warrior or a young pro on a budget this would be on the short list. It's very similar to the red 56" that Costco sold (sells?) for the screaming deal of $450 that someone posted here a couple of months ago. If the HF one is $800 personally I'd look instead at the Montezuma 41" for $750 delivered.

Costco box for $450. They are the same depth as I recall, just look different in the pictures:
The Costco version has six wheels and big handles on each end. The HF box had two BB drawer slides on the top drawer, the Costco box only one. The slides looked and acted identically though.

Anyone would be crazy to buy that POS box, even when it's on sale.

Right down the road in Milton!

That's absurd hearing that. But I wonder if they will get the bottom in? Hell of a steal.

Definitely worth the trip to Pcola tomorrow to see it. Thanks for the tip

I was in town last week on the 1st and it was there. I wouldn't be surprised if it is gone by now. It was on the front wall in front of the registers on top on the smooth finish one. hope you can get it, i wish i could have:drool:
