Here are a few pics of the big pour, it was alot of work but the concrete pumper sure made it easier. Long day for the guys, they were ready to go home time they were done finishing the floor.

Wow...

I am glad to see someone is keeping the locals busy. ;) I graduated from PHS in '99. Ran around Piqua/Sidney for quite a while in my younger days.

Is this going to be a shop shop or a personal garage?

We poured 177 yards that day, plus there was 20 yards in office area pour and another 18 yards total in the bases for the 3 Jib cranes Im putting in. Still have about 65 yards to pour outside for the approaches in front of all the overhead doors and sidewalk.

Jack,

Great use of space and clever thinking in your garage, I am overly impressed in your use of space. Mine would not be nearly as big if it werent for the size of the equipment that has to go in it.

6" would be 150 yards call that 17 standard concrete trucks
8" would be 205 yards 23 trucks
10" would be 263 yards. 29 trucks
Standard concrete trucks carry 9 yards
The trucks in the pics above may carry 10 to 13 yards each, not sure. Those trucks are not used where i live.

Sorry, that was the answer I was looking for. Appreciate your reply.

Some day I plan to finish my 56x85 barn and the great debate in my mind is how thick of a flooring to use. For the most part I only store light equipment in the barn, but I also have a DP RV representing over 15 tons that I store in there too. So I debate how thick of a flooring to have in that area - thinking 6 inches. Welcome your thoughts.

Personally I would pour a 6" floor for the RV. You could pour a 4" floor in the rest if weight is not an issue. Quality of the mix the psi of the concrete also makes a big difference, I wouldn't use less than a 4000psi mix for floors. How well your base is layed and how well its is compacted is also essential to a long lasting floor. I prefer rebar or min. of 6 gauge wire mesh for reinforcement over using fibermesh. If your planning on bolting down lifts make sure you meet there requirements.

Hope this helps.

My house, garage, office and entire property could all fit inside that place, I think.

Incredible project.

Hi falcon428, first off congrats on your new building, I can only wish for a building like that. Was wondering how many acres you farm? I farm almost 1100 acres, crops did well this year here in southern Indiana, how was yours? Would like to see pics of your equipment also if possible.

I hope falcon428 notices his thread has been resurrected and updates the thread. Despite conventional wisdom around here that a garage can never be big enough.......this thing might be. Holy ****, that's a biggin.
