New A series dual 80

Snappy handed me my new SLF 80A today and warrantied my SLF 80 that wasn't broke at the moument. I have cursed about the screws loosening up enough that he agreed to replace it. I am very pleased about this and think I will finally be happy with this $203 ratchet. I have had the ratchet for a year have broke it six times. Four from the screws loosening up and blowing the guts out. The other two I snapped the drive off. I don't fault the ratchet for the drive, but those damn screws drove me nuts. So for anybody eles having troubles with the dual 80's try getting it replaced, I can't say for sure your guy will, but its worth a try.

Since they have come out with the "A" models. I am replacing ratchets for anyone that has had a problem with the screws loosening up.

If your braking the drive off it sounds like u may be using the wrong tool for the job, breaker bars are your friend.... I guess the breaker bar drive could break to but I always found them much stronger? What do you think?

I can't figure out why guys aren't doing that for themselves. A dab of blue Loctite and you're good to go.

Does the A revision only apply to 1/2" ratchets?

AFAIK, the "A" revision is only for the 1/2" drive S series of ratchets; maybe chadster1 can confirm, this was told to me by a regional rep that was training a new dealer.

Yeah, I didn't notice before, but the one snap on sent me has the "A".
Never noticed before, I have one at work I brought here, (New this year ),
I will have to see if it's the "A"
Never had trouble with it.

didnt do much for me. the screws were accually stretching out.

Thats not an A. That is the production date code.

The cover plate screw positions were changed to the back of the head so that they're flanking the direction lever. My guess is it was done so that they're supported by the ratchet head to eliminate flexing under load which could potentially snap the screws in the original position.
