New air compressor

Going Saturday to look at a 2014 Ingersoll Rand. Model 2340L5 5hp 2 stage. Guy says works perfect. I know this compressor has a bad rep, but if it's been working for 4 yrs with no problems, it should be good to go. I'm going to test cfm when I get there. What else should I look for or should I just pass on it. 700 bucks

It is a used air comp. But if it's in a home/hobby shop would be hard to wear out in 4 years. It probably cost 2x that or so new.

Drain the tank and see how much water come see out. That’ll give you an indication as to whether or not the owner drained the tank on a regular basis. Take note of the color of the air and water that leave the drain.

Pop off the cover of the pressure switch and see if anything is burned. Look at the condition of the belt- is it tight? I presume that the compressor is plugged in and can be run? If so then listen for knocking. Pull the oil plug and check the condition of the oil and the oil level.

As sberry indicates if used in a home shop environment then the machine should be in good shape.

Thanks for the input guys. I didn't think about checking the pressure switch area. It's supposed to be plugged up when I get there. Tank is probably empty because he lucked into an 80 gal snapon and hasn't used this one in a year. Says he just runs normal home garage tools. Occasionally a DA sander. This unit, in a spec I read on line, says it's supposed to go from 0 psi to 160 psi in 6.5 minutes. We'll see.

Compressor checked out good. Works like new. Also got 4 qts oil, two intake filters, water separater and auto oiler. Appreciate the help.
