I was hoping to find a slightly vintage drill bit holder on eBay ( didn't), but this showed up in the match fewer words category. At first glance, I thought it mounted on the side of a bench grinder, and pivoted to allow sharpening any size. But once I clicked thru, you mount this on a 5" angle grinder wheel, and run it against a surface to sharpen your bit.

Is this natural selection, or what exactly?

Think grinder guard... Now imagine the orange thing attaches to the grinder like the guard does. Looks good to me. Plus I lived in a Holiday Inn once... For 18 months.
Looks like it attached to the wheel, then they used it in polishing the top. Look at the ad closely.

I don’t know. This image shows them attaching it to the wheel, I don’t see a guard. One of the other pix does show the drill bits point down.

Pic 1 shows the guard

Orange thing looks to slip over guard and get secured by thumbscrews

Poor instructions with a Chinese product? I am shocked!

I don't believe that it will sharpen the bits. There won't be any back relief.

It simple can't attach to the wheel, so something is either missing in the Pic, or the pics are photochopped

Looks easier to use than the drill Doctor, which requires 3 steps.

No way can it work, with 2 steps.

If you look closely at the first picture you can see the rim of the guard on the left side, almost covered by the "sharpener". It looks like it slips/clips over the guard and is stationary during operation.

Great unit to destroy your bits... No way to set the proper face angle based on the particular bit.
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I've sharpened bits with a right angle die grinder to finish a project

But if the bit is dull and you have no other way to sharpen it, I'd argue the bit is already destroyed

And if the sharpening jig slips and spins up from the grinder wheel's rotation, the bit sleeves are all nicely angled outward to shoot the bit off into the scenery. What percentage of a full 360° circle does your anatomy occupy? Them's your odds of stopping a flyaway drill bit.

True, but if you know the angle, you can reasonably approximate it. With that jig, you have no idea what the angle is set for, so you get whatever it was printed at.
For me, anything smaller than 1/2" is not worth resharpening due to time requirements. I simply buy the sizes I use, in bulk. Most of what I need are 118 degree split point bits, in jobber to 12" lengths, in HSS, carbide and cobalt.

The people using that jig don't know drill bits have angles

I have a tungsten sharpener for my Dremel:

But it uses a bonded (nickel on steel) diamond disk which is completely enclosed in use. Works well and I can hook it up to dust collection.

A 14,000 rpm cut-off wheel being worn on the sides and enclosed in a cheap piece of plastic? Uh-uh. I've already had to pull a piece of exploded cut-off wheel out of my earlobe (went right through my cheapo face shield). Once is enough for me.

Oops That was the crappy one--I thought I'd tossed it. Here's the good one:
