If you want to drill a single hole, and stop it at the correct level on the uni-bit, and the material thickness matches the step on the bit to work with. Agreed.
Everyone's use case is different, but I often have to drill 20-50 holes in sheet metal for pop rivets or otherwise at once. Or need holes that aren't easily devisable into 1/8" size increments.
That's where I'm at. Admittedly there are unibits with 1/16" and even 1/32" divisions but inevitably, with small steps like that, I end up blowing past my desired hole diameter, especially in thin stuff. Sometimes I like that next step to "deburr" my hole but sometimes it removes more material than I want.

Great, so tonight after a few beers I'm going to be buying a set of these.....good thing you extended it!🤣
Last night I read the BOGO and normally I just pull the trigger because I've had a few beers and am more open to spending the cash. But I didn't have any drinks last night because I've been so busy so I actually had to think about it for a while and then pulled the trigger anyway. ;)

Just lit the charcoal for wings, starting with a Fiddlehead double IPA....shouldn't be long.....:D
I'm actually thinking a second set for home with a free set for the school box is a pretty damn good idea.

Who knows?
I caught this a little late, but it looks like it was extended until the brass finds out.

I sent you a pm. Thanks again!

Heck of a deal! I’ve been on and off looking for a good set of bits to have next to the Clausing. You got me as well.. started a little too early today with the Yuengling and then I started browsing GJ.

What can I say? I’m a weak man… Mistakes were made… and the Mrs. is unhappy. BUT I’m still drinking so that softens the hurt.

Well mine arrived today and as I mentioned above, I put them right to work drilling holes for rivnuts in some box tube. They cut very nicely, but of course they're new and sharp! I'm quite certain they left much less of a burr on the backside of the wall which is the problem I was having before. The holes were also very round.

Obviously there are a whole bunch of different use cases for these and thin material is just one of them, so I look forward to putting them through their paces.

In any case, I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky ones that gets a free 29 piece set!

We're a manufacturer, I wouldnt say we service any particular place. We typically send 18-wheelers worth of tools to tool warehousers, they service certain places and countries.
There's simply a limit in the cost of the free goods we're sending out

Okay so GJ got me turned me onto drinking early in the day and now a couple from the eventual list are randomly getting free 29pc sets rather than 21pc set. You know the deal. Dont quote me.

Cheers

So if we ship you booze, we'll get more free stuff?

Read his post he does not ship to Hawaii or Alaska. They are in the 'entire" US.

He said he would ship to Alaska. His exact words were, "why not."

What prevents people from returning the Amazon set after they get the free set?

Canadians always miss out on these promos though :(

I could use a new set of good bits.

You should talk to the people who wrote your website. From the "about us" on your website.

"With over 40 years of importing product into the U.S. Automotive Aftermarket, Astro Pneumatic Tool Co...."

I have a vacuum sealed pack and some red hot dogs as well that my brother sent from Maine.

I just wanted to add that I received my Amazon set yesterday and i can’t wait to put them to use. I don’t do a ton of drilling but I’ve been wanting to add a new index to my collection to fill in some gaps. While I haven’t used the bits I got yesterday yet, I’ve used the Marco branded bits and they are awesome. I can’t imagine using another bit to get the one job done that I needed to buy that single Matco bit for, which is why I was ok paying $70 for that one bit. Now I should be set for the most part for a long time. Thanks Astro!

PS: any reason why these shouldn’t be used on wood occasionally? Thanks again

Out of curiosity what was the BOGO deal? I have been busy for a couple of weeks and missed this one.

I have benefitted from several Astro BOGO deals and I don't mind at all just paying full freight for these, everything Astro I own has proved to be a great tool.

Is the only difference in the two sets the range/quantity of drill bits?

One set stops at 3/8", the other goes to 1/2". The bogo was you buy the 1/2" set, you get the 3/8" set.

Can't say I'm overly impressed for the cost.

Shipped in a bubble mailer, drill box with no packaging so the tips damaged the box and themselves.
Box soaked in some sort of lube, bunch of metal and dirt? inside and on the bits.

I'd shrug it off if it was maybe a $50 set, but for $200, I'd expect a bit better.
