I've wanted a montezuma wedge box for some time now. Just trying to justify the funds to acquire one for a travel/track box.

They have new Viper boxes at my local Sears that look nice, too. They have some interesting configurations, including one with a couple pull-out pegboards.

I want to see one first hand. Got no money for one but would like to check them out. Good bang for your buck from the reviews I have read here.
I was just in my sear today and I didn't see any.

From what I hear, Montezuma's a very good box. And if you need more info and the local Sears doesn't have any in stock, look no further than this site's sponsor, strictlytoolboxes.com, for plenty of info and competitive pricing.

If you paint those green, they would be the spiting imiage as the Menards Masterforce boxes. Those are chicom specials.

Are Montezuma toolboxes made in USA or Camada?

I believe the wedge boxes are made in Kansas, but their rollcabs are imported.

That said I have a pretty old wedge box (pre gas strut lid, etc.) and it still works great. there really isn't much to go wrong with them though. The best part of them by far is that the lid effectively locks all the tools onto their respective hook. You can pick up one of these boxes, throw it in the back of a pickup, drive around for a week, and open the lid and all your sockets and wrenches will be right where you left them. That's why we have one.

The Montezuma's are higher quality than the Masterforce boxes... they have rolled or folded drawer edges and stiffeners that makes them feel a lot sturdier.

I think it's kind of random... one of the Sears around has carried several Montezuma boxes for a long time, the other carries several Viper boxes. The Sears "Home Town" or whatever they call the appliance/tools stores carries only Craftsman.

The Montezuma's are on the "super heavy duty" models while the MasterForce are on the "heavy duty pro" models from the same factory. So you are technically correct in saying it's a higher quality. It's similar enough if people do not want to spend almost twice the price though.

I hope your post is a shot at Menards needing to update the line to match what Montezuma is doing and offering everyone in the Midwest a better priced unit.

Just checked my store tonight. They have 'em in stock.

They've also got the newer Craftsman boxes with the very rounded corners. Seems pretty decent.

Wondering the same thing. They had the 36'' model in Louisville KY for $750 on sale but in Charlotte I couldn't find one. They had no idea what I was talking about either
