Guys,

It's about as done as it's ever going to be. Sure, there are a few loose ends to tie up, and several things I'd like to do in the future, but we've finished everything we set out to do, and the construction loan is running on fumes...so it's time to call this done. How would you like to take an online tour? Well here ya go.

This is an oldie from way back in August. Look kids, everything fits!

The new garage is 10' off the old barn. We paved enough between them to connect the man doors.

Newton the wonder dog get's the kids ready for the first day of school

This opening used to be the wall of our kitchen. Now it opens onto the new breezeway.

New deck and breezeway from on top of the kid's swingset-fort deal

View from the breezeway onto the deck.

In the garage looking back towards the work bay.

92.7% eff. gas wall boiler hooked to 3 zone hydronic system. 1 garage. 2 upstairs. 3 breezeway. HVAC techs will note the pumps aren't wired yet. I should finish that next week.

I picked up this bin rack at Sam's Club. The compressor was in the barn before. What it lacks in power, it makes up for in noise.
garage-sept 007.jpg

New AC unit feeds an air handler upstairs. Space ducts to the upstairs, garage, and breezeway. Vent and air intake (also gas line) for the boiler.
garage-sept 008.jpg

Gas line to my grill. I already had a 1 1/4" PE gas line buried from the downstream side of my meter to my barn, so I just dug it up and teed into
it twice. Once for the boiler. Once for the quick connect for the gas grill. Next year, we hope to landscape around the deck.

Guard dog. He's viscious, I tell ya!

Wall features Mustang Pace cars. Note stairs are covered with rubber safety matting for a sure grip. I ordered an industrial safety mat from Northern Tools and cut it to fit.
Note there's a strip of it on the corner of the overhang for the stairway framing to keep people from denting the T1-11 with their heads.

660 SF Family room above the garage (27 X 35 garage). SWMBO's mom is making window treatments. Full bath there on the right.
garage-sept 012.jpg

Looking the other way. The wet bar isn't done yet. One cabinet is still on order. Should be in next week.
garage-sept 013.jpg

This will be the last thing to get done. An Amishman down the road is making us a media cabinet to fit in this 4' wide hole. He's booked until November, but we're on his list.

That's pretty much it guys. We are really pleased with how it turned out. The Amish building crew was really amazing and a great bunch to work with. In hindsight, the only thing I'd do differently would be to make it bigger. Common story, eh?

Looks great. What lift did you select?

I got a 10,000 pound 2-post aysemetric lift from gregsmithequipment.com. It is some sort of Bend Pak knock off. It's worked fine so far. I had my Mustang up on it before the garage even got done to do some work. It's a bit slow, but for a home-shop I don't think that's a big issue. For commercial or even semi-commercial, I'd have sprung for the name brand.

The aysemtric part was critical to placement though. I was able to mount it deep enough in the garage that the doors open without hitting the posts. Greg Smith Equipment has a store about 2 hours from my house, so I saved quite a bit in shipping by just going there on Saturday and picking it up.

It was a MAJOR PIA to get it off my trailer though. I took it off with the 3-point hitch boom on a John Deere tractor. Getting it balanced and through the door was something else. To set the posts upright, I just had 4 big guys come help me and we just picked 'em up. That's definitely the way to go.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

The ceiling is 13' in the garage, 8' in the breezeway and 6' to 10' in the family room.

Phil

Thanks Phil my ceiling is only ten feet. I was thinking on a four post lift. I think I may be able to squeeze one in.
