So i have always wanted to buy one but the prices always seemed way to high. most ranged from 800+ and thats with out motor. there are the DIY ones i looked at but didnt want to try that one lol.

I saw a guy on one of the fourms made one for himself and then started making them.
www.ameribrade.com
looked perfect. Placed the order and 2 days later i got a huge box in the mail that weighed like 70lbs :eyecrazy:

I put on a "3"hp 240v motor from HF. its kinda crazy, i cant even stall this setup, it just eats metal like nothing.

so for under 800 bucks its not a bad deal.
(and no it didnt come in this color lol)

Looks great! I like what you did with the knobs. I have been watching Ameribrade too, on IG. I'll probably get one eventually, I am trying not to buy any equipment until next year.

Congrats! I dig the color scheme. There's hardly ever a day goes by I don't use mine.

Nice looking piece. I like the paint as well.

Can you tell us what feature(s) help to differentiates this grinders design from the other 2"x72" grinder plans that are available. I understand it comes assembled and others sell plans, its low cost, made in usa, ect, but is there a particular element about the design, ergonomics, functionality, ect. that makes it stand apart from other designs?

it was the low price, made in USA that got me. I dont seem to have a lot of time to figure it out and build it. (also super tired of building **** like this, currently i had more money then time lol)
Looks great--especially the color. You should post it in my belt grinder thread as well:

Thanks for the response. I can associate with buying in lieu of building and the lack of time.

yea, its not a proper grabber green, but thats just what the can says :D

machine was $550
HF motor was around $140
a set of 10 belts was $20
misc wiring another $20

Ugh, I think this post just made me take the issue of getting one of these a little more seriously.

Are you still happy with the belt grinder? Would you be willing to share some of the dimensions to that grinder
