I've been lurking and absorbing knowledge for a while here, now I finally get to do a build thread!:bounce: Shop will be 30'x30' with a 20' roof extension, 16' overhead door, all on a 30'x50' slab. This will be a much needed upgrade from my 2 car attached garage. The reason my wife named it the Bird Nest is sitting right behind my new compressor. The last picture is what it will look like, but with a man door next to the roll up door.

10-4 good buddy, like the look of the "patio" on that. Says Ford guy that did own a T/A at one time. What year is your screaming chicken?

It's a 79 with a 400/4speed. I like the color combo of your T/A. I've been following your build thread for a while. Where is Merkel?

It's long I-20 just west of Abliene. A pretty small town. I've only seen it from I-20 though.

Always loved T/A's. I used to have an 80 firebird that started life with a strait 6 and ended up with lots of Forumla Trim and a slightly hopped up 350/TH350 ****** and B&M shift kit and slap shifter. It was a cool car. At one time or another it was dubbed "Thunder Chicken". Loved that car.

Site built trusses

I didn't realize how much my build site sloped. It's about 2' from one side to the other.

That car was "Mayan Red" with a Camel Tan velor interior if I remember right. "Arrest Me Red" is a better name for it. It was an auto/403 car - the dealer could not guarantee the 400 for the price of the WS-6 package, so I bought a base car, bought some Western mags though my parts store connections and all the WS-6 sway bar/shock parts from the dealer. It didn't have 20 miles on it before it had parts all over the driveway. Wish I still had it. The Falcon with a no perfomance 302 could spank the hell out of it in a drag race, but it handled great.

What they other guy said - about 180 miles west of Fort Worth on I-20. About 240 miles from you, more or less.

Yeah, site grade can be deceiving! Always a good idea to set up a transit or level and get a few elevation comparisons on a planned site before you finalize your plans.

I was shocked when I took elevation comparisons on the site of my planned new garage! I had guessed that there was about a 12" drop over 50 ft. but actual drop was 26"! I had to entirely rethink my foundation plan.

By the way, I think your building is going to look great. I really like the carport addition on the end.

Nice 79- wish mine was a 4 speed, only ones that got the 400. Mine has the look but with the 403 auto it is pretty sow by today's standards.

Hard to beat a black and gold trans am!
