That looks like it might be a really nice box... I'd probably buy at $200-ish.

It would be nice if HF offered the 44" in other colors like lime green and bright orange, but standard red makes economic sense.

They have offered a black version years ago. It was a rough matte black, very low quality. Maybe this version is gloss black?

At 178 lbs it would have to be filled with **** too. Sounds pretty heavy duty to me.

Don't knock it until we check it out

I might have to do a review on by procuring a sample for testing purposes

Edit. Post 500 !!!!!!!

The red ones are nice, but this one reminds me of this ************* though http://www.harborfreight.com/tool-s...r-matte-black-roller-cabinet-combo-61485.html.

That new one reminds me of this *************,http://www.harborfreight.com/tool-s...r-matte-black-roller-cabinet-combo-61485.html. Which is why I think this one might be a pos.

Looks like this one might be fine but the resemblance does not instill confidence when this pos exists http://www.harborfreight.com/tool-s...r-matte-black-roller-cabinet-combo-61485.html.

Tell us how you REALLY feel...

Maybe. Sure looks like the new logo/emblem though. Sure would be nice if HF had the same specs on both pages! (insert angry emoticon here)

Comparing the Black Onyx to the Gloss Red;

The slides are different design and bottom drawer is different,

Logo badge on opposite side,

Drawer handles are different, side handle different,

Struts are mounted backwards.

Someone noticed this a while ago and there was another thread recently.

HF used to sell this black version with the dark crinkle finish several years ago.

Some people were guessing that they stumbled on a supply of old stock or something, but who knows if that's accurate.

If you look closely, the black top box in the HF pic has the old HF handles, not the new design they currently use on the 44" gloss red and gloss red top box. If the picture is accurate, that would support the theory that these are old stock or otherwise the same as the old black version they used to sell.

I don't know how accurate they are, but if you look at the specifications in the owners manual the black version will hold more weight than the red verison.

The old red ones were rated higher too

If memory serves, this issue came up back when they were still selling the black version.

If I remember correctly, the general consensus is the black versions were the same but there was some shenanigans with how they're rated.

I hate the wrinkled finish on toolboxes. Im not one to really care too much what a box looks like (none of my stacked boxes at work or home match colors) but there is something about that finish that I don't like. If I ever came across a deal on a Kennedy box, I'd have to strip it down and paint it.
