New Britain hub tool #P100

Hi all! Great forum here. Looking for a striking hammer for this tool if it's not too pricey. The drive end is 7/8 hex. OTC 7394 is very similar but 1 1/8 in. KD tool is also very similar but they don't list the drive size, neither does NAPA.
Any suggestions? This sucker is a beast.............

Also..............I have an "old" IR impact in 5/8 drive size. Looking for a 3/4 socket and 13/16socket for tires. Thanks for looking.

when i use mine i just put a socket on it. whacking the driver with a hammer seems a bit caveman to me.

Agreed. We did some hubs yesterday, one was very stubborn (I live in Nebraska) so we put the impact to it. About a minute of pounding before it came loose...............The other side fell apart practically. Well, it originally came with the striking hammer. Maybe not worth the cost/effort to find one.

why not weld the right size 6 point socket to some beating stock? It would probably be much cheaper than trying to find the real striking piece.

Now, it does state size starts at 1" but it may very well be possible to get the size you want from them.

An old 3/4" or 1" drive impact socket, some scrap 3/4" plate, and a couple of 7018 rods, should make a nice one.

The 7/8" drive size of yours didn't ring a bell with me so I went and dug mine out. I bought this tool in the early 1980's at NAPA and had always assumed that it was a New Britain but now see that it has no makers stamp at all.

Mine uses a 1 and 1/8" drive size and an odd method of limiting how far the striking wrench goes on with a rivet.

Any idea of who made mine?

I had always regretted not buying two extra legs when I bought it. Now even more so.

I tried a leg from a pullet that belonged to a friend one time and it was shorter and didn't fit onto the puller body. I don't remember the brand of his and he's gone now. ;-(

I'm guessing that sadly, all of these were different.

I just did a +hub +puller search on Ebay and spotted some images of the KD one. The flat profile of the bottom of the center section, and the picture of the hammer wrench portion look right, but I couldn't tell what kind of "stop" was used on the head of the threaded shaft to position the hammer wrench.

These haven't really went up in price judging by the Ebay prices. I remember that I paid right at a hundred dollars for mine around 1980 or 1981.

The stop on mine is a ball detent like a ratchet has.
