Hello everyone, first timer here.
Thank you in advance for any responses.

Just recently this set of Husky Hand Tools 3/8 drive sockets/ratchet/extensions came into my possession. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this set, also, some information on the year of tooling.

I am in Canada if it makes any difference in what was available from Husky.

I'm not sure of exact dates but I believe that style was 60s/ 70s era. What I do know for sure is that the NB made stuff is quite nice, the ratchets have a good feel to them and they're quality US made tools.

Here's some backround on the Husky brand. Link

Those were nice tools and that set is in great shape. Now Home Depot sells Husky tools, made in China or Taiwan. Just in a HD today, pear head ratchets made in Taiwan, round heads made in China. About $25 US for a 1/2 drive ratchet. It was only a few years ago that HD took Husky tools overseas.

Looks like my Dad's. I still have it, minus the plastic case.

I wonder if he got it at Pascal's? If you what I am talking about then you probably lived in Quebec in the 70's :)

Yes, I think 70's is a good guess as well. I have that same ratchet that was sold new in the late 70's. It's excellent quality and comfortable in my hand; one of my favorites.

Thanks everyone.

I had read up the CB-45 patent and it seems it was first put on the shelf in 1961. It just didn't scream early 60's to me. I can see late 70's taking into account the plastic case.

I have the metric set as well with the same ratchet. They feel great for a smaller sized 3/8.

That's a nice Husky set.I believe it is from the early 70s. I have many Husky tools from that era, and they have given me many years of service. They were made by New Britain . The ratchet repair kits are getting heard to find.

TLD: Not to hijack the thread, but I could use a ratchet repair kit for mine. Any idea where I could find one for mine?

Thanks,

The last one I got, came off of E Bay. It's been awhile, and I don't remember who the seller was.

When did Husky become the house brand for Home Depot, would anyone know?

I love those ratchets. They just have a good feel to me. I can't wait until the weather gets nice again, and I can hit some garage or estate sales for some tools.

30 bucks for that set . I was a little kid at that time so I can't say for sure but was that kind of expensive ? I wonder what it would have been down here.
I think advertisements are better than catalogs for dating tools because the photos are usually more up to date.

I have a bunch of those ratchets. Love them, they are so smooth. I've always wondered when they were produced.

'Bout tree-fitty.

Yeah, Cdns pay way more than in the USA and especially so at that time when our dollar was garbage...

But the thing about Crappy Tire is their sales are very good, so that set was probably $15-20 on sale.
