Hi all, I've been browsing all the awesome garages on here the past few months while gathering some ideas for our new build. My parents and I have a home together and we are building a 32x40 garage with two 7'6" x 12' doors.
This garage will have a wood shop for my father and a small 375sf studio apartment behind that. The other garage door will be actual garage storage for a couple of my vehicles. The 16x40 loft will be my mother's area, she teaches cooking and sewing classes to local youth so it will be nice for her to have a dedicated space for that. Plans are for 8'6" ceiling height in the garage/shop/studio and 7'6" in the loft with the knee wall coming in around 4'8". The building will have two 1/2 baths (wood shop/loft) and one full bath in the studio.
It took a while to get the building permit but we are well on our way now. Unfortunately, due to a utility easement, we had to move the rear setback to 10ft This puts the building within 45" of our basement entrance. The foundation was poured last week and framing should start later this week or early next week. I will be doing time lapse videos all the way through the building process, some are posted below the pics in this post.
I've spend the last couple weeks learning Sketchup and building out the whole property with fairly accurate measurements. I liked Sweethome3D for interiors more than Sketchup.
