New build, blank canvas

Hello, I have been looking around on here for some time. Finally made an account so I could look at pictures and already gotten some good ideas. Im located in WV, have a decent chunk of land and no restrictions other than the wallet. Originally planned for a standard 30x40 pole barn but now looking to go 30x50x14. I have a 2 car attached garage so the pole barn will be for working on vehicles and projects. plan to do a 2 post lift in one bay and also have a tractor and zero turn ill be storing. I would like to have a small room built to store my water pressure tank etc with heat. the rest of the shop will be wood stove heat. Also want to have a. small area where my tool boxes etc go with a platform/mezzanine above for me to store less used items. I have the ability to set my shop with doors on gable end or long side. for those of you with your shops set up one way or the other, would you change the side your doors are on or are you happy with it ? I Want to do two 12 ft doors if I go with the long side ( one bay dedicated for the lift) or possibly one 20 ft door if I go with the gable end ( lift in the back of the shop).

Shot grade today on where my plan is to put the building. Im around 5 foot foot of fill needed for the back side of the shop if I go 50 deep. calculated with 25 loads of shale plus skid steer work and a sheep's foot roller im looking around 5700-6500 just for the pad. Leaning towards going 50 wide and 30 deep more now. Just can't decide if I want two 12 ft wide garage doors or 3.

Build with 2 doors and add a frame out for a 3rd, planning ahead still required but less cost initially. Consider adding the third door behind the lift for good weather add-a-space and ventilation. Your 30' depth will fit many larger vehicles very well, but can eat up space with no long term storage when most vehicles will be ~20'ish long. You could store your roller chests in front of the rear door and roll them out for the odd 4 dr. long box or trailer work needing the full 30' (+/-). Again just food for thought. Nice size @ 1500ft.² a little more than double mine Jealousy runs amuk here! Now for a reality check make sure you can get insurance with wood heat, that may require an outdoor wood fired boiler and in concrete plumbing [in floor radiant] or wall mount radiators. Harry

I'd do two 16ft doors on the 50ft side closer to one end so you end up w/ around 12-14ft of front wall at the other end. That can be where your tool boxes, zero turn etc go w/ mezzanine over.
