Hi From Downunder,

I am overdue to start construction on a Garage on my new lot.

I am stuck for idea's to get the best value and look.

My needs are:

1 Hoist/lift (6 Car Bays in total)
Good Size Workshop
Diner/Service station at the front (2 Car Spots inside)
about 2700 sqft

We build Single Brick Construction with Tin Roof. I would look at a tin Shed with Brick Diner/Service Station but I would prefer brick.

my concern is that the large roof span would mean expensive roof trusses.

I have a very large lot so space isn't an issue nor is shape.

I want something different I'm looking at about $60k budget.

Here are a couple of renderings I did. You may notice in some of the pictures there is stables, they will be added later.

Thanks in Advance. Any little bit of information will help.

Shane

Shane, welcome to the GJ.

Brick construction would be my ultimate goal but I think you will find it expensive and not fit your budget.

Rendering 3 IMHO would be the best fit for your budget given the cost of building nowadays you also have to consider things like footings, concrete, excavation, electrics, plumbing, internal linings, insulation, windows and the list goes on.

The last few drawings in terms of design look great.

Pre fab trusses are comparatively priced when you look at the big picture

Have you considered tilt or hebal brick slab construction ?

Looking forward to see how you get on..

Regards

Rethink if you realy need a clear span.
A correctly positioned post can carry a lot of weight and not be any real obstruction.

Thanks Guys,

1/2 I really want to go brick. I will be building it myself, I have contacts in all of the trades so I think I should be able to squeeze it into my budget, I have calculated conc, footings, brickwork, doors etc the only think i haven't priced is the roof structure and tin.
