My wife and I closed on our property last week and now for the most important part of the new crib is the SHOP.

I have approval for 42x42 biggest I can go per township and hoa. I'm going with concrete frost wall as I am in michigan and don't really like pole buildings. The frost wall will come up 2.5 ft above grade so my lumber can be bought in 10ft lengths. And give me almost 13ft ceilings for hoist clearance.

I have been combing this site for 2 years now lol getting ideas. 5/12 roof pitch. 2x6 construction denim r-21 walls and I already have enough r-49 to do half the ceiling. 3 10x10 doors on gable end. 2 7x8 doors on opposite sides of eve for boat lawn mower and yard tools part. The main shop is going to be 42 wide 32 deep. 8 foot tall wall with mesne on top of that so I will have 10x42 4 ft high storage area above duck boat stall and lawn **** witch will be 10x42 8 ft high.

Now for u guys that have hoist I'm doing a 9k 2 post symmetric lift did u go thicker concrete below the post even tho most the websites say 4inch is thick enough. Also I'm going to have a 4ft by 10ft 4inch thick steel table that ways 5700lbs in there for fab table it's an old press bolster I'm getting from work and can't wait to put to use. Would u pour thicker under the legs if that also? Once it's in there I'm not moving it obviously I have an interior layout of where I want it so it will always stay there.

Anything u guys would add or do different feel free to say I'm not breaking ground for a little bit yet but as soon as I do I will upload photos where building shop first. Kind of having a hard time deciding where to place it on our lot it's 2 acres so there is plenty of space just not sure how we want the layout yet. Love this site can't wait to have one of my own up on the board with the rest of these awesome shops.

Thanks for lookin/and all comments good or bad :)

Welcome to the board.
If it was me i would put in thickening pads under that fab table and the hoist. for an extra $100 or so in concrete to have a nice area for the feet of that bad boy fab table to set on would be worth it to me. I know how stupid i get with weight on mine and mine is only aprox 36" by 52" and 2" thick.
