I lost my home in the California fires last year. My architect has prepared rebuild designs that I am happy with. Work has begun on construction drawings. Lot is 1.1 acre, house will be about 2800 sq. ft. covered with about the same in outside patios and decks. The property will have a media/music room. I am interested in discussions regarding integrated wiring systems/ideas of the whole home for music, lighting, security, cameras, indoor and out, etc - central control system including remote. All work will be done by various trade professionals but I am gathering ideas. Thanks.

I do some of that for a living.

I would wire each room with at least 2 CAT6 cables and one RG-6 for cable or satelite.

If you can integrate a centralized closet to put a rack for all the network and media equipment i would do it. Make sure there is enough room to have good access on all sides.

I would also pre-wire CAT6 to every location you plan on having cameras.

Also look into doing an enterprise Wi-Fi system such as UniFi and plan on running CAT6 to locations you will have APs throughout the house.

Way easier to wire up now with the walls open.

There is structured cabling that contains 2 CAT6 and 2 RG-6 as well as optional fiber(not needed in your setup) all contained in one jacket. It can be pricey but the savings on labor running individual cables or a couple at a time can add up.

What do you plan on for internet service?

Where are you specifically located??

Throw the ideas out here, I'm about to do the same thing. What is the structured cable called-2 Cat 6, 2 RG6? (I'm not sure how to subscribe to this thread, so I just replied instead?) so I can find it again. Thanks and good luck George.

Its called just that.

As for specific brands, Im not sure. I havent used the stuff in years cause its too pricey for track homes and businesses.

I used to use it in custom homes years ago.

Heres some examples i found for you. I have no experience with the brand...

I am thinking of using something like this:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Legrand...PIPHorizontal2_rr-_-202702664-_-202702667-_-N

I am going to spray foam my outside walls, I am going to drop an 1 1/4" piece of PVC into the basement from this box, if (when) technology changes, I can swap out the cable. I bought a Visio 50" tv for the barn, it does not have a coax connection on the back of it, or my cable box!! I ran an hdmi cable from cable box to tv. I will pull a Cat 6 cable to everywhere I want a camera drop but what else should I pre wire for? My barn will be 150' away from the house, I will need a wifi/TV signal out there.
(George, hope I didn't hijack your thread!!)

Any wireless access points?

Media controllers? Stereo receivers?

Burglar alarm? Wired smoke and CO detectors that interface with a smart monitoring system?

I like to hardwire smart TVs. I only buy TVs with ethernet and wifi.

I would pull a couple runs of outdoor CAT6 to the barn..

I will probably put a WAP on the covered porch
I have looked into the wired/interconnected smokes that would tie into my smart hub (still deciding on that) they are $$. I could put in the 120v/9v BBU Smoke/CO2 detectors and maybe a Nest one also that is wifi (That's what I have in my barn now)
I have Spectrum Cable, their new Digital TV boxes have a Coax input and only HDMI or optical output to TV
I will install a couple of conduit runs out to the barn, one for Cat 6
I 'm looking at the Samsung Smart Hub, along with Sonos Speakers for the house/family room tv.
