New Canarm Ceiling Fan - Very Loud Hum

So I purchased 3 Canarm LTD 56" White Industrial Commercial Ceiling Fans (Model Number: CP561118111R) along with 3 Canarm MC3 2.5Amp variable-speed controllers.
Installed 1 and it hums loudly on every setting except full speed. Likely a low voltage problem due to the reostate controller. Called Menards and spoke with a tech rep who said humming noise is normal because the fan is an industrial fan and was designed for warehouses where there or no people. Huh? WTF?? I heard that a 3-speed type controller will stop the buzzing noise, but I don't want to spend more money if it isn't going to work.
Did anyone here have a similar issue or might know of a solution?

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I have 2 of the Canarm (CP56HPWP) that are both run off of a single Canarm speed controller (CP561118111R). They have a slight hum that is louder than your typical house ceiling fans while they are running at low speed, but they are not loud enough to bother me. I really like these fans and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

I have installed many. The controller does make them hum a bit but I would never consider it loud. Normally it's barely noticeable. I would check your wiring and fans over.
