A new reversible ratcheting wrench set from Capri Tools for 2020.

The price seems a bit scary even with their 10% off coupon.

The satin finish is appealing, as is the length. It looks like they have the Carlyle, Sunex, & others anti slip open end but, they left off the teeth in favor of a deeper raidused V throat. The boxed end is a modified six point boxed end that seems to have notches for use on rounded fasteners :dunno: The 72 tooth ratcheting action should enable speedy fastener engagement though.

I'm not sure if I would be willing to buy a whole set but, I might in a moment of weakness, pick up a couple in common sizes to see if they're the ratcheting wrench of all ratcheting wrenches. First, i'll head over to You Tube to see if there are any influencer videos out yet,

The Capri triple square and hex bit sets I have are good quality, but I agree the price is out of line for these. If they were $100-130 it would be more in line with other Taiwan sets.

Too much money. Any ratcheting wrench that does not perform more than marginally better than Gearwrench has to really be able to justify it's price. As cool as the box end looks, I really have to ask if it is significantly better than just a six point surface drive box end. I hardly ever use my ratcheting wrenches, so chances are that I would far more likely be using my bolt extractors.

With other items, (i dunno about capri tools) many times the prices are higher on the company’s site compared to what they get listed for on others.

I want 6 point ratcheting flex wrenches. Reverse switch would be nice. Ideally I want a 6 point ratcheting wrench that is strong enough to break free rusted bolts.

Look nice. Wonder what real world pricing will be.

I use ratcheting wrenches often and like them but wouldn't drop big money on them unless I was certain I could get warranty service as they all seem to fail under hard use.

I've ordered a few Capri items before off their site and with the free shipping, reward points, and they usually have a 10% off sale so, it was cheaper than amazon or ebay.

I think $199.99 might be real world pricing unless they don't sell :dunno:
I haven't broken anything from Capri yet but, I believe they have an online claims process wherein you email them a copy of your receipt, a photo & description of what's broken, and if approved, they send you a replacement.

Satin finish is nice but besides that I not liking the 6 point or thickness of the box end and 200bucks finishes it off .
For cheapish usable ratchet wrenches the icon long sets pretty good with 20% or more coupon, is good oem manufacturer. I been beating on a set for over a month daily and they durable plus warranty should be easy enough .

What would you specifically be interested in knowing or seeing in a video review of these?

I have searched high and low and don't see much for a 6pt reversible ratchet in a satin finish to really compare it to. The Capri wrench length is longer than a standard gearwrench, duralast, kobalt, husky, blackhawk, stanley but definitely shorter than ICON.

The selector switch connects to a floating pawl so it can still ratchet freely compared to the Kobalt which is not. The actual box end is very comparable in size (width and height) to the ICON. The selector switch is slightly raised on the Capri where it is flush compared to the ICON or Blackhawk or Duralast. There appear to be a slight radius cut out on the 6pt end, but not nearly as aggressive as a socket. I didn't gauge the ends but everything was fitting very snug with zero slop and very little to no play.

I have the Icon ones and some Blue point.
I use the Icons much more often. Gotta love the length.

I'm familiar with that 6-pt Taiwanese design. You see a lot of that design sold in Japan. Everyone advertises it as 80% rounded capable. There are very few designs capable of 90% and they are all extractors, not just simple an every day wrench.

What would you specifically be interested in knowing or seeing in a video review of these?

Welcome to the Journal!!!!

I would say compare them to whatever ratcheting wrenches you have on hand. You could try the v throat open end on your torque jig to see if it slips. You could try the modified six point boxed end on rounded fasteners to see if and how well it works. You could just do a video tutorial on the wrenches themselves, what you like or don't like, highlight the satin finish, show the direction switch up close, etc. just don't make it an infomercial.
thanks for sharing!!

Does anyone know why they discontinued the metric set? I contacted Capri to see if it was just a supply problem and they said it was pulled for upgrades. I get upgrading a tool but I wish they still stocked it until the upgrades version was available for purchase. If anyone has a metric set they want to sell please let me know.

It seems like availability on their stuff comes and goes a lot.

In May of 2022 I got the Capri MaxChrome (no special profile) 8-10-12-14-17-19-22-24-30mm combos. They didn't have the 27mm at the time, took til Christmas for it to be available. Strange.
