Hi everyone, john here. I am a proud new owner of a nice ranch in south setauket ny. nice starter home with some general work to be done and i am aching to make some progress.:rocker:

my general home plan is to make a nice TWO LEVEL garage out of my one car attached garage. ive got some toys and tools, i sure could use the room:D

so far i have a ton of stuff to organize...from a 10 by 30 storage unit turned full blown garage with compressor, drill press, workbench, car parking, welder, and storage. yes it was packed, but organization is key.:D the spot was costing me 350 a month, good thing i bought a house!

attached to the house its not a two car garage, but it is a large 1 car "opposed to NO GARAGE and i am looking forward to creative use of space with a electric hoist, loft area upstairs workspace, and general car shenanigans.:rocker::3gears:

i will admit i have been following this forum for about a year now , and now that i have a house, i can finally partake in some of the projects i have seen here! theres some real talent from you guys...

so far ive made a parking space for my favorite turbo autocross truck. more to come!

383: you didn't need to wait until you bought a house before you joined, but a nice house it is. might i suggest if you have the room to go to the side of your garage to make your garage wider and maybe go back with it. one thing is if the solor is working you can keep it in place and you'll hate hauling up big heavy stuff upstairs. your house your design so you make the call.

i hear you on the storage cause currently i'm leasing storage and shop space.

great first post and if you need any help and can't find a thread talking about your issues just ask on threads that are close and you can always ask here too. there are not a lot of members that welcome the new members, but the ones that do are friendly and most have some idea of which end of a wrench or hammer is the working end.

cheers and WELCOME to GJ

thanks a lot, appreciate the kind words. in the future i might extend the side of the garage, it would be pretty straightforward. for now the upper level i am talking about is the area above the garage. there is a platform already built and theres enough room for me to stand up around the peak. in the center of the platform loft area i want to use a electric hoist for picking up heavy objects, doing engine swaps, and GETTING STUFF INTO MY ATTIC. thats the plan. this isnt the forever house either, we will see how it goes.:)

Welcome fellow LIer.

I'm on the south shore in Nassau. I'd offer to help but it seems your way ahead of me. Lol
