New ceiling fan wired from light fixture?

I'd like to add a ceiling fan to my garage, there is currently a typical fluorescent light fixture within a foot or two of where I want the fan so I was wondering if I can add a new ceiling fan box and tap into the wiring from the fluorescent light?

I don't care about having a switch for the fan, I can just use a remote or pull the chain. The light I want to tap into does have a switch.

Is it possible to do this and still have the fan work when the light is off?

The fan I have also has a light on it so there are 2 pull chains for the light and for the fan. I guess I just need a way to provide constant power to the fan.

Any ideas if this will work? If so I'm not sure which wires I need to get from the light to provide constant power to the fan.

Thanks

The only way this will work is if the power is to the light box and the switch is a 'leg'. If the power is at the switch box and the switched circuit goes to the light, you won't have constant power. What kind of wiring system do you have? Romex, conduit or?
