I picked up some Behr 1-part epoxy acrylic to paint my new garage floor. The salesman at HomeDepot said that since it was a new garage (not been parked in, etc) that the cleaner, etcher, and primer weren't necessary.

Does anyone have any thoughts or insight?

That's what I figured.

It was somewhat intuitive since there isn't any oil (or anything at all for that matter) on it, but from what I gather it's all about the prep work.

Are you saying you think the Behr product is quality?

You always want to at least etch new concrete. I was in the same situation you are in when I atsrted my coating project this weekend. The coating company said I should at least etch it prior to coating. So far so good.

Thanks! That makes logical sense to me. I just didn't see the purpose of the cleaner/degreaser when it is clean and there hasn't been any grease/oil on it.

That being said, I'm willing to get whatever I need to do it right, but of course I don't want to spend/do more if it won't help anyway.
