hi
i am relatively new to the forum. i am in the midst of re-doing my garage . we took out the old cement and poured new . i have decided to go with a poly aspartate floor. the company that will do this for me says they will etch the cement, thenput down epoxy, then on top of that put down the poly
so here is the question . i have been told by the people who poured the cement that i should wait a year before i do anything to the cement (ie,put down the coatings) i suppose this so the cement can cure . so is it true or is it wise to wait the year
thanks

You have to wait until the slab stops curing and releasing chemicals and gasses which is more like 30 days, not a year.
If the guys acid etch and apply the coating you will need the concreter to give you a smooth surface because any peaks etc. will show through. Have a look at the contractors other jobs to see what you need.

30 days is generally all the time that is needed for hydration to reach a stage where you can coat the concrete. By the way, it is concrete, not cement. Cement is an ingredient in concrete. Just sayin'--

Polyaspartic coatings have a very tight molecular lock.
Go 45 days and check for moisture.

If you don't it may HAZE and you don't want that.
