New Compressor... and Please Check My Wiring

So I purchased the last compressor I'll ever need:

It's a Quicny QT7.5 I got at Northern Tool. It was on sale $250 off. Not a great deal but not bad. It took 5 guys to get it out of my truck bed and that was a trip! It's one beast of a compressor. Anyways, I'd like it if everyone could check my plans for wiring:

New 40A breaker in my main panel. Running 8/2 up into the attic and then down the wall and out the wall next to the compressor. Run the 8/2 into a new electrical disconnect I will mount on the compressor opposite of the contactor/overload junction box. Then another section of 8/2 from the disconnect into the contactor j-box. Tie in two hot leads at L1 and L2 per manufacturer instructions and gound on common lug with motor on grounding lug on lower left hand side of contactor j-box in picture.

I guess the only question I have is should I just buy a new ground lug like the one in the j-box already and moun them both on the same grounding screw? Or can I fit the 8 gauge wire in the existing one? Oh and one other thing, I need to bump the motor to check rotation right?

Your wiring should be OK. No need to bump the motor as it is pre-wired for you. It makes no difference which hot wires go to L1 and L2 as far as the motor rotation goes.

You should be able to tie the ground wire to your existing lug. For the wiring run from the disconnect to the mag starter, make sure it is in conduit.

$2500. Not the cheapest but it's better than buying 2 more compressors before I buy this one. I struggled for a long time between an Eaton and this, but I liked the made in USA part of it, and the overall quality seems to be better. Not that Eaton's aren't bad.

If I still lived in Ohio I'd be more likley to get a comparable Eaton.

So I'm getting this thing all spiffy'd out, I got a 230 volt hour meter from redington, model 710-0003. This is a 230V model our meter. I'm curious about the wiring. The meter has two wires coming off of it, both brown. How do I wire this thing up? One brown wire to each pole? Or one to hot and then one to ground (that would make it 120v thought wouldn't it?). I checked redington's website, not any help on it.

PS i was going to mount this on the cover for my mag-starter, any issue with cutting a small hole in the cover?
