I have a compressor that's a few month old, only use it once in awhile to blow off parts or blow out a corner in the garage.
What I do is fill the tank and use as needed, when it gets low I'll fill it up again.

Recently opened the bottom valve and got a little of this dirty fluid, is this normal or do I have a problem?

Save headaches doing it manually. It’s more hassle on occasional use than industrial. Just grab an auto drain at HF. Yea they’re chinsey and have nylon tubing but they are cheap and seem to work fine. It’ll be a lot dryer than trying to remember and digging around under there when you think of it.

Wheni have been using it a lot and read a thread about a goofed auto drain I walk over and kick the drains open. Plumbed out thru the wall.
