New compressor - what to do with old tank??

Thinking about upgrading my oil free Craftsman 33 gallon compressor that's getting a little long in the tooth.

My question is what does the average DIY homeowner-type do with the old tank once they buy a new compressor? I randomly fill up tires and balls. Once in a while run all sorts of air tools from impacts to nailers and shoot some sparks out of a plasma cutter on occasion but that's really it.

I have zero need for a receiver tank for more volume. Do you dump the tank on CL? Sell it for scrap? Any other options/creative/useful ideas I'm not thinking about?

Why just the tank?
Put the whole thing on CL for cheap.
Someone will come get it for a re-build project.

A buddy of mine collects water tanks about the same size to use for the "body" of statues he builds. The local painter then paints them. I don't have a picture handy of the mechanic one he did but it turned out REAL nice! Even my wife was impressed!

use it as an extra storage tank when you needed more air capacity.

Just go through your list of friends and figure out who doesn't have a compressor and could use one. It's a Craftsman oil less compressor - it doesn't have enough value to screw with the Craigslist crowd.

But it could make a friend very happy.

I sold a craftsman oil less for $100. I don’t think it was quite that large, though. Maybe a 25???

This was one of the best shop upgrades I have done. The oil less are absolutely deafening.

Thanks guys. All good ideas. I've got a few buddies that are borderline horders and would love to have another compressor laying around so I'll probably let them fight for it. Their wives are gonna be pissed!

Put it on facebook marketplace for $10 if you want to bother. Ask $10 and take $5 if they offer. Somebody is always looking to buy something like that. Otherwise it’s scrap value or put it by the side of the road and it will be gone in a couple days. Just make sure to put a big enough sign on it saying FREE so folks can read it easily driving by.
