Thinking about getting a new compressor. I've looked at TS IR 5hp 60 gallon. I like the output for the price.

That's the one I originally was going to get until I learned that they're not made to last like they used to be. So after some research and plenty of opinions.. I went with a Quincy. It should last me the rest of my life and then some. Yeah.. it cost me more but it's a one time investment hopefully.

Good luck.

I currently use a thirteen year out Craftsman 33 gallon that has served its purpose over the years and surprisingly continues to run well but loud. The problem is that 5 SCFM is a pain to work with most of the time. The IR doubles the volume and more than triples the output to 18 SCFM for $749. I am definitely in the home use category where the compressor may go days without running but then need to power die grinders and impact wrenches for the weekend in typical auto restoration/maintenance work.

They definitely sound like a great deal for sure. Most likely you'll never have any problems with it for around the house use. Future plans and extra money at the time helped me make my final decision on my purchase.

I too had the craftsman compressor and although it was good to me for many years.. it was way too loud and slow.
