Yesterday, the downstairs A/C unit quit functioning in our house. The tech that came out today indicated that the motor ran hot and died taking the capacitor with it. The unit is a fie year old Carrier with a GE motor. The new motor is an AO Smith. It is much louder than the old one. I asked the tech, and he told me that type of motor just had a higher pitch.
It is quite annoying and neither the wife nor I are not happy. s this typical of these motors? Should I ask for something else?
