It's very nice. I would pay $100, maybe $125, but I would use it. $200 seems high and I don't see why anyone would 'collect' these - they aren't exactly rare stamps.

Well, let me qualify that statement. I can see why blocks are desirable and obviously I see the appeal of restoring them. I just don't see why someone would want one just to look at and never use.

At $200 buy in (plus shipping?) I would be looking at a Bench Grinder, 8 In, 3/4 HP, 115 V, 7 A by DAYTON or the like.

But Id be buying a grinder to use...so "collection" appeal is not considered.
If one is a collector of vintage craftsman tools, then I can see paying that much for a 1/2hp grinder. Otherwise, not so much.

To each his own

That grinder has been on CL for a while now, just relisted a day ago. It's in great condition, but not a hard to find model. If it's still available next month when I get to PDX I'll probably go look. I've got two 1//2 hp blocks, one commercial and one non, so it would have to be a lot less than his current asking price.

"My only regret is that when I bought it I did not know how rare of a find this was as I probably could have had the original box."

Maybe it's just me, and maybe off topic, but that strikes me as odd. I wouldn't need to confirm rarity before asking for the original packaging on a new item, if I knew the packaging was available.

At any rate, a good looking grinder but I wouldn't pay $200. And if I did, I'd use it.
