I recently took advantage of a Sears sale to pick up an extra box/chest combo to get better organized. I already have an older roll-about combo, and the drawers slide easily. The new boxes however have a different slide design that I detest . . . you have to push them hard the last 1/4 inch to fully close them . . there's some sort of internal catch on each slide. Really annoying every time you close a drawer! Has anyone found a way to remove those catches? I haven't investigated yet . . . maybe there's a rubber nub in there or something I can pry out? Does this annoy anyone else as much as me?

I checked out the Craftsman boxes and found it a pain. I then bought Blue Point boxes only to find the top I got was the same way. The bottom BP is the slide the latch under the lip variety, I find this even more annoying. (I get Snap-On for 50% off, everything, everyday )

What I've found "on the BP box anyway" is you don't push the drawer closed. You kind of give it a light slam, not hard mind you, and it closes good. Just have to get used to the light slam, I cuss myself every time I push. To open, the technique seems to be you hold the drawer with your four fingers in the middle and push with your thumb above, if that makes any sense? Tool boxes shouldn't need a technique. :eyecrazy:

The bottom box always seems to take two tries to open, closing is fine.
I forget to pull the latch over with my fingers.

Hope this helps, maybe just had to vent!

Over the holidays, I picked up the basic 4 drawer bottem rollaway. Then I found the middle one at the outlet for around 40 bucks. Needless to say the rollaway I like, But the middle one the drawers slide like an old desk. Must be why they were "cheap". I am too getting confused by Sears everytime I go there or look online.

Dwrs loaded with tools are much easier to close and thus counteract the "bumpstop" nature of the stop you find.

While not ideal, they do work if the dwr is loaded and designed as such.

I've seen it on everything form HF to Kolbalt to Craftsman to Blue Point and Mac and Snappy.

Anything with a heavy bumpstop (not pure metal on metal rail sildes) which are most bearing based units use weight as an advantage for dwr closure I have found.

I recently got a top and bottom Grip Latch box to match a set I got years ago and the sliders and latches have a way cheaper feel.
