New "Craftsman" cordless tools

I see "Craftsman" is coming out with a new line of cordless tools. Apparently 20volts.

Does anyone have any insight into why CM didn't build on the existing C3 19.2volt line?

I realize that Stanley Black & Decker bought Craftsman from Sears.

Do you think its the end of the C3/19.2 line?

Just a guess on my part... I would think that as long as Sears continues to source it's Craftsman tools from places other than SBD, that the C3 line will continue. If Sears decides to stock SBD Craftsman instead of sourcing their own, then I would guess the C3 line would fade away. And as soon as Sears gets the final nail driven in its coffin, it will probably take the C3 line with it

I believe all or most of the C3 cordless line was made by TTI which iirc also makes Milwaukee, Ryobi, and Ridgid. Stanley now owns the Craftsman name and their new line of cordless tools looks to borrow from the Dewalt and Porter cable lines. Don't suppose you'll find any support for the C3 line there. You might still find some C3 stuff at Sears.

The older craftsman C3 tools were made by TTI, the newer C3 are made by Chervon.

I would venture to guess if Stanley wanted to make them C3 compatible they would have to pay for some sort of licencing / royalties, not to mention do a lot of testing and integration.

Their SBD craftsman stuff looks like direct dewalt ripoffs... So with minor re-tooling to their existing lines they were able to spit out their own CMan stuff...

Me personally, when my C3 tools die ages from now, I'll probably go Milwaukee.
