At first I thought they were pretty cool, but I wish they were reversible.


It looks like the offset to reverse direction may be a bit of a hindrance?

humvee top bolt on the transmission 9/16 works wonders... you can tap the t handle with a soft face hammer to break it loose.

i hate sets that skip any size, but the 12mm is one of the sizes i use more than anything. and i'm sure sears will sell the set, but not the individual pieces so i would have to order the single one online.

Not even close. The Gearwrench/Craftsman version has a locking pin that allows you to adjust the angle of the head. Additionally, the Gearwrench/Craftsman version has a 72 tooth ratchet action compared with a 30 something Snap on T handle wrench. The best application for the older Snap on t-handle ratcheting wrench was the top rear shock nut on a Crown Vic.

By the way, the Gearwrench reps at SEMA/AAPEX had a prototype of a dfiiferent kind of pivoting wrench. Think X long Gearbox wrench with a fixed boxed end on one side and a pivoting ratcheting end on the other side. Should be out next year.

Sadly, it's true. I bought a set and each wrench has CHINA engraved on it. However, as I pointed out in the other thread, at least Sears was honest.

Craftsman was supposed to be Made in the US .. Companion and Evolve were made overseas. There goes the Craftsman name ..

Right and all imported Snap on was supposed to be Blue Point, and all MAC was supposed to come from Ohio, and Cornwell makes all of their hardline in the USA. Unfortunately, these statements are no longer true today. If you think that's bad, start looking at where the parts you buy for your car are mmade.

Yes, it's basically the same locking pivoting box end on the current combination pivoting wrench. I think it locks like in 13 different position.

I saw these yesterday, and wasn't impressed. the markings were poorly done, and the CHINA stamp really bothers me. The other thing that bothered me at Sears was that they were already playing Christmas music!

If the C-man wrenches lock they are a completely different tool than the snap on RTB wrenches. The snap on wrenches though can save a lot of time in driveline work and can really help in removing certain hard to get nuts and bolts. I found that the 13mm is pretty much the only thing that can really install or remove the top bolt on the starter of a land rover LR3/RR Sport.

I bought them and didn't discover the "made in China" until after I got them home. I needed them at the moment and they came in very handy on a water pump replacement I was working on. This may have already been answered but they DO indeed lock which made them even more helpful. I'm not sure they would work well if they didn't lock.

Also I only purchased the metric and they do leave out the 12mm.

For pros who only buy U.S.A stuff and who are consistent in such an approach, I'm sure said wrenches will be declared inferior garbage. However to weekenders on a budget who do not have tool trucks visiting their house lending tools on "credit" these work great and I would recommend them.

These are the wrenches that I looked at in Sears; I posted the SAD DAY Forum blurb. I think I was taken back by the CHINA label on the back of each wrench.

Why should I be surprised most of the tool companies are doing it , this is why I dont want SK to fail. I think in time they will all be made over in Asia or whatever Country provides the cheap labor

No issues with them. They're handy when nothing else seems to work. I would recommend holding off until the Gearwrench set I wrote about seeing at Sema with boxed ends comes out for two reasons. First, I don't really use an open end that often. Secondly, since the set is from Gearwrench, it will probably be more complete like 10-19mm without any gaps. There's nothing wrong with the Craftsman set. I know the made in China aspect is a bitter pill for many to swallow. You can never have too many wrenches.
