I thought the following video was very interesting, now I realize some of you might not like the Chinese made Stanley craftsman screwdrivers, but the tool reviewer spent some quality time analyzing the screwdriver.

The clip does not move very fast and it is somewhat long, but still worth your time if you have been sitting on the fence for a new screwdriver.

I would like to have seen him use them. Test them on screws under load and see how they perform. I also wanted him to dip the handles in acetone. It was a good review otherwise.

One of the primary active ingredients in brake cleaner is acetone.

They look really good. Would of been nicer if they were USA made though, even if they were $30-$40. Not too often I see Stanley use China for tools so that's fairly disappointing.

I already came across the review when it came out. Upon closer inspection, it does look like it is better quality than it looks. That being said, the main issue is price. There are other cheaper made in China options out there if I wanted to cheap out. Pay a bit extra and a lot of German brands are now an option. I can't justify buying the Craftsman set enough on either a quality or value basis.

Isn't half of Stanley's products Chinese?

I'm not impressed. They look like homeowner grade at best.

I'm also not impressed. If you want cheap, there at lots of decent cheaper options. If you want quality, there are lots of significantly better quality screwdrivers for not much more money. So I don't really see these tools fitting in anywhere except for people who are still riding the coattails of the Craftsman name.

I wish they had bought the tooling from Weatern Forge and would start making the clear handles in the USA again.

With the possible exception of the Phillips drivers---Craftsman has the worst Phillips screwdrivers ever conceived! They do make decent paint stirrers though.

Later production WF ones are not so hot. Finish quality is better on the same style ones Sears is currently sourcing from Great Star (Z coded acetate handle). Stanley is better off trying to produce their own line. They do have USA production for screwdrivers so if they’re serious about it they should.

The more recent production WF Craftsman screwdrivers are not that great. I'd rather try out the made in Taiwan hard handled Craftsman screwdrivers that Stanley currently makes or the made in Taiwan Harbor Freight equivalent.

I lost interest in anything craftsman back when they started outsourcing stuff to china. When they start making stuff in the usa again I might be interested maybe. That being said, the usa made screw drivers that were being made right before they were outsouced might as well have been made of cheese.
