I missed out on the last of the USA made craftsman snap ring pliers when they clearances them a few months back. I have about $25 in expiring points and looking for something to spend it on. Are the new Taiwan ones any good?

Otherwise there is a K Tool and Astro set for cheap as well.

All I have today is a crappy pair of changeable tip ones that I want to throw away every time I use them.

I can't help you much because I don't own any of the sets you linked to. I have a US made Lang Tools 12pc set and it works just fine. I don't think Sears carries them.

Whatever you end up with, don't throw away the changeable tip ones you have now when you buy something new. I have ground small nails and pieces of drill rod into different shapes and mounted them as tips several times to make specialty tools for removing some pretty stange things. I even have a pair that I keep a permanent set of thin duckbill style tips mounted in. I use them to help remove small external retaining rings that don't have holes for use with snap ring pliers.

The Taiwanese make very good tools. I'd have no issue using those in a professional environment, ...

but there is the fact that an imported Craftsman tool leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I can't tll you if they are any good but it is a really recent change. They've been clearing out the old stock of the USA made set and singles, I got the last of the larger pair at one of two closest Sears. I also got the set a couple months back...you may be able to find some at a less frequented Sears...it should also be cheaper than the Taiwan set by at least 50%. It's also possible they finally just moved them, may want to check Sears Outlet in your area. Stock went from a pretty large supply to nothing almost overnight here, not sure if a reseller bought stock or they pulled them. Might be worth a couple of calls or a detour out of your way.
