>Raised panels are still alive in the cheaper sets
This is an affront to god.
I have never had a raised panel based ratchet that I enjoyed using.
How they have made it this long is absolutely baffling. Same could be said about the raised panel wrenches to a lesser extent.

Seems like they will EVENTUALLY be made in the USA with global materials.. says it will be a multi year transition for the brand - whatever that means.. wonder if that means TTI will lose it craftsman power tool gig and they will get redesigned and manufactured by Dewalt.. I have a hard time thinking they'd wanna help TTI make money.. lol

As long as they keep the same battery platform I will be happy and continue buying. I have a lot of 19.2v tools.

If they change the battery, they better be able to compete with Ryobi on tool diversity.

I find it funny that at one point TTi literally made the same power tools for Ryobi and craftsman. The only thing that one has over the other, is the marketing and we clearly see who one that battle. I too am excited, and hope they keep the same battery

I really like the looks of that ratchet. Kind of a retro mod design. Definitely interested in checking them out.

I'd be fine with Made in Taiwan, better if Made in USA!

I have one of the danaher made napa branded ones that use the same mechanism, that one isn't too bad compared to some.
I opened both up a few years back, I think the reason is the teeth pawl on the craftsman one wasn't as deep as the ones of the napa, it didn't engage as positively as the napa. The ratchet wasn't used very much either, just different manufacturing tolerances for craftsman possibly. I did swap the drive end from the craftsman into the napa because it lacked the quick release of the craftsman, its serviceable for a junk yard box, at least it doesn't grind up nuckles from slipping into neutral like the cman did.
Then again, I had a kobalt 1/4 made by danaher I bought in a set from lowes and that was a stinker too. I'd rated them a solid notch above those ratchets you see in the $4 socket set specials from HF, useable, but you'd rather not.

I thought the whole point of pushing the Kobalt name was it was a Lowes product; now craftsman tools am I missing something here???

Kobalt was because Craftsman was a sear only (with exceptions like ACE) brand, so they had to come up with their own competitor. But now that Craftsman is a loose canon and has the more marketable brand name (ask the average person about cman and kobalt/husky) might as well jump on board and sell it.

Im curious to know if this is a Stanley 120 tooth mechanism or if they're using the original Apex suppliers and its just a GW clone.

I see the Ryobi line as what the C3 line should have been. Keeping fingers crossed.

The seem to be from the Stanley Fat Max series with a different handle.

Based on a patent picture shown in this video it looks more like the SO dual 80 mechanism vs a GW 120.

he picked a picture at random. the design is identical to gw 120 in that it uses a 60t gear with stacked pawls.

Yep, I am calling this new handle the toothbrush style since it is a little different but I think it’s trash. Add the other two strikes and this is not much of a triumphant return but we shall see if anything interesting comes before Christmas.

I like the idea of Waterloo making boxes but someone from SBD needs to tell them to fix the crappy drawer layout. Give me a made in MO box with the Masterforce (Snap-on copy) layout for $1500 and I will be stoked to support American manufacturing.

The C3 lineup had horrible, horrible marketing. I switched to Milwaukee when all the Sears closed, and with them I know what tools are coming out, when, price, and I know they'll be around for a while. Craftsman wouldn't promote new tools, release them, never made it to many stores, then discontinued them in 6 months. C3 were great tools, but the marketing killed the line. They could've been what Ryobi is now.

What are we going to call the new Craftsman ratchets?

I'd say they aren't the same as the traditional Craftsman Raised Panel.
