Personally I think the beadblasted black look of the new Craftsman China tools looks like garbage.

Last week the Sears guy I know said they got something new in, and it was still in the back room. He brought it out and I took pics. Then he also brought out just a socket set.

He thought it was seasonal, just for Xmas. I did not think so.

Look guys, I know many people are upset at all of the non US made Craftsman but, very little is made in the US anymore. We are no longer a nation of makers. It's an affordable spline set. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Until someone buys it, trashes it, and writes about it here, there's no sense whining about it being imported. Many of us have spline wrenches and sockets. Most of the spline wrenches from SK, Gearwrench, Matco, etc are all made in Taiwan. They work well why can't these? Granted, I'm not a fan of the black BBQ finish but, judge a tool on its performance, not where it comes from.

I have no problems with spline sockets. I actually like the way they fit
That ratchet is ugly to me though

I am pretty bummed with sears and Craftsman. I like many grew up using them. I own about 1000 in snap on wrenches but, always grab the craftsman:headscrat
These spline wrenches look like sh!t but, may work?
For the record I tested a 10MM open end williams newer, snap on 1992 10MM and a 10MM craftsman.
The williams sucked!! loose loose
There was absolutely no difference between the craftsman V upside down V and the snap on. Only difference was about 120 dollars in price and the snappy's are shiny.
Thank god for garage sales & CL

Don't assume just because it come from Asia that it is automatically junk. It is like saying all Chevy are POS. The ratchet look alot better than US made raised panel ratchet and we all know how horrible those raised panel ratchets are. What happen to innocent until proven guilty.

I don't assume they're junk, even though they probably are. I just won't buy Craftsman hard line tools that aren't made in USA. Decisions have consequences...their decision to go to offshore production means they lost my business, and my decision to stick with made in USA is costing me more money when I purchase a tool.

Did anyone else notice that the metric set is missing 12mm? Won't get far working on most Japanese cars without that!

Why did they skip the 12mm and 15mm? If you are going to skip, skip the 11 and 16. Something about the ratchet that appeals to me.

Even if they are top quality Americans should buy American products if we have a choice and we do still have a choice when it comes to tools. If people buy these spline sockets that tells sears that we Americans are willing to sell out our country for a cheaper price and they will keep moving stuff over there. The sad thing is the prices are not coming down to even reflect the outsourcing. You can look at vise grip and see that the price is the same for there products even though they are all made in china now so where is ANY benefit to the US consumer for buying there product. The same thing that happened to our electronics industry is happening to every other industry now and it is because people sell out their country.

I saw these 2 days ago at sears and I was very impressed with the quality but as soon as I turned it over and saw the Taiwan I put them down and went along my way.

The sockets look like the older, New Britain supplied BE sockets, with the knurling and chrome. I rather like the nostalgic look.
I know that a lot of the spline drive stuff is made in Asia, but there is some made here. I know also, that cost is the largest factor, but is it also possibly a patent issue? Just a thought.

Anything that says Craftsman and Taiwan or Craftsman and China is a POS

Don't buy any Craftsman tools not made in USA. Make sure you tell your friends and family not to buy you this **** as a Christmass present too. I've already informed everyone I know about Craftsman tools.

People were buying the **** out of Craftsman tools before they started outsorcing. People don't sell out, The companies that look to blow their stockholders into financial ****** do. Buying a tool you need or like at an acceptable price point isn't selling out your country. As long as people need tools to make a living or build the car, project or whatever they will buy whats available or what they can't afford. I have a few outsorced tools I use to build my race car. If I didn't have them I would be able to buy all those high priced quality American made parts from Summit Racing and Jegs. Everything you buy helps our economy one way or another. Buying something keeps somebody in a job no matter if it's a Harbor Freight Screwdriver or Snap-On Epiq tool box.

What about Snap On and Taiwan or Snap On and China? You know those are coming.

As long as there is a made in USA alternative that is the right quality, they'll have my business.

I had to go to the mall so I stopped by Sears this morning. The only USA wrenches they had were, all raised panel, all reversible ratcheting combination wrenches, the ancient style ratcheting wrenches, the non-ratcheting Cross-Force wrenches, and the remaining Professional combination (old stock) and deep offset wrenches. The flare nut wrenches, all of the non-reversible ratcheting wrenches, all of the spline wrenches and sockets, and the new full polish combination wrenches were Asian.
